I realized I am F-A-T !

Hi I just came upon your forum while searching for help.I have suffered up and down weight problems but this is the worst. My heritage is Russian and I am so afraid Ill be a live 5x5 nesting doll one day!

I weigh more than when pregnant and I had Toxemia!I do a good job of hiding it(in my mind anyway) I am not 200 pounds yet but between thyroid, menopause,stress(Im a caregiver)etc. I am losing the battle of the bulge.

Anyway I sure hope to get some ideas from you all!

We are in this together and here to help each other. I am so glad to meet you.

I am from Ottawa, Canada - been a part of GardenWeb originally from the beginning back in 1998. I started my new lifestyle journey 3 years ago and take everything in small chunks. I am 5'3" and 45 - any extra weight shows up on my size quickly. I am still not at my goal but at least finally in a healthy zone. I got scared when I had my first major back spasm and my hip started to grind when gardening. Anything that interferes with my gardening is serious business! LOL

Don't worry anymore - you are in great hands. Feel free to join our merry gang at the 'Daily Support' thread. Right now we are recovering from a rough summer (many family issues) so if we seem to be blabbing about everything else it's because we are just getting back on track right now. We are all doing 'our own thing' for our health/weight loss journey and supporting each other along the way.

I found a terrific free site which gives you diet advice, more forums, recipes, coaching - very similar to the Weight Watchers online site (I paid for that before) and weight tracking - all FREE with NO catches. The link is below for you to check this out.

Hi Goldenpond,

I am hypothyroid, stressed, and at the age of menopause. I love coming to the SS Daily Support to talk to the gals, and just share the day.

Some us lose, some of us don't. We go forward, get motivated, fall down, and get back up again.

The support over there is fantastic. Come join in!

When we purchased the current house in 1996, it had the original GE builders grade dishwasher from 1985. It was very loud and didn't clean well, so we never used it. When the kitchen was remodeled in '06 we went with a new GE Profile dishwasher, as we also were buying a GE washer & dryer. That dishwasher only lasted us a year and was repaired several times (rolling racks and noisy water intake valve), but it cleaned fine. We replaced it with an Electrolux Wave-Touch, but only had it 60 days due to installation issues that could not be resolved, through it cleaned better than the GE. We were then without a dishwasher for about 2 years before we got a Miele Diamante Plus in 2009. In the two years that we've had the Miele, it has cleaned everything well. We don't pre-wash, but do rinse some dishes, pots/pans in the sink so piece of food would go in the garbage disposal, but we don't wash them with soap. On occasion, we will soak and hand-wash an item that may have heavy baked-on food, but that's like once or twice a week. Regardless, on the Miele we use the Normal mode or the Pots & Pans mode and everything comes out clean. Only use the China/Chrystal mode two or three times a year. The Express mode we don't use, since it only washes for 5 minutes and then does two 5 minute rinses (we found this 5 minute wash is not long enough to clean a full load). I check the bottom filter once a week and clean it out, but it hardly ever has anything in it.

nwdrip- Thanks for chiming in! I am thankful for any advice and I appreciate you commenting on my thread. I think painting the back of the cabs dark brown would be really cool with some colorful dishes. Suero- I never would have picked a rug like that, but you are right, it works. My only thing is that I am, in general, trying to avoid red. I had red accents all over my last apartment, and I want to go for a different feel. However, I get to see what a teal looks like, and how patterns interact with my curtains, so thank you!!! I have continued to look at other rugs. Hubby has been almost no help. He is very picky on what he wants, but he won't help me look. I have browsed through approximately 4000 rugs by now, and every suggestion I have had, he has shot down. :( Here are some of my favorites right now. Please tell me what you guys think: A B C D E F G Hubby wants a border around the edge, doesn't want flowers, only wants a hint of color, doesn't want stripes, doesn't want beige. Please note that most of *my* faves at least have one of those things. This one that I posted earlier appears to still be hubby's favorite: But he's not sold on it.

I had one of those beauties in my old kitchen. Briefly considered having it restored for the new kitchen, but in the end opted to buy something new. Did enjoy using it for 25 years.

But first, can you share a few more pics and a simple sketch with the dimensions of the room? That will get you all sorts of specific advice. Right now, consider the design choices that made you like those two pics... I love the chairs in the Promised Land Farm pic and the way the light painted frames make the whole room less heavy. Don't know where you are, but vintage dining room "sets" are really inexpensive in most places. And dining chairs, well they don't use that much fabric and are sometimes easy to re-up yourself. My advice is first to determine the size and shape you need & allow yourself to consider lots of options. I would avoid any sort of Queen Anne leg ;-)
