I am having the same problem with my Phillips Magnavox TS3254 TV. Chasis Model # 32Z500-7563. The TV starts and after a while the screen goes gray with white lines and shuts off. I have seen many postings to replace the R3340 resistor on the CRT circuit board. My model does not have #s that high on the CRT board. The circuit board # is GR6B-97 212974C0320B is also printed on the board. The resistors are labeled R54, R55, R60, etc.... Can you tell me which resistor need replacement? Thanks

Hello, Several months ago the problems began. First when the tv was turned on, the whole right side of the screen about an inch thick from top to bottom would not show the picture but within second would fill in with the rest of the picture. Every day it seemed to grow a bit in size and then the tv started turning itself off after being turned on. For awhile, you'd have to keep turning it on several times in a row as the picture issue from the right margin seemed to be the cause. Now it takes at least ten times of turning it on after it turns itself off to get the picture working. The screen is not just the margin issue now but also horizontal lines across the whole screen--the pciture is just all unclear though you can sort of see what it is. Then the tv shuts off until after ten or so times(of turning it back on) it finally clears up. On occasion, it also just shuts off. It is worsening and taking longer to clear up to watch tv. The color appears fine as does the sound and everything else. Any ideas? Can I fix it myself? Can anyone recommend how? Thanks in advance for your insights.

Hi, Pee_Wee, Thanks for your help! As you suggested, I replaced D409 with NTE552 and IC500 with NTE1788, as well as C557 (220uF/35V on my model). Now the TV is displaying only the top half (no distortion); the bottom half of the screen is completely blank. I checked the rectified output from D409 and D445, and they are -13V and 13V respectively. I've left the TV on for over an hour and no blown components. Everything is fine except that the bottom half of the screen is blank. When I turn off the TV, for a split second I can see a full vertical deflection, so aparently the yoke is good. Can you think of anything wrong? thanks, -- John

I realize that Pee Wee has posted a lot on this forum and seems to be very savy on this subject so if you are still around please help me too. But anyways, I have this 32" Philips and has a Chassis # of 32H800 7592. And the problem is that it shuts down after it has been on for a while. Now I know that Pee Wee has posted a couple of times with problems a little similar, my TV however never seems to have the lines that others speak of. If I unplug and leave off for a week or so it will comeback on and work for a couple of hours and then shut off, sound is fine and the picture looks fine when it goes off and the LED on the front blinks and continues to blink. Then when I try to turn it back on, it stays on long enough to see a good looking picture for 5-10 sec at most then shuts down again and every subsequent time there after. Again the sound is fine during this too. I could leave it off for a couple of days or a week and go back to it and it would repeat, stay on for a couple of hours then shut down, then shut down after 5-10 sec there after. I was just wondering what the problem could be... if it was a resistor problem that I could easily replace like was mentioned in another thread, or a broken soder that a pro would have to deal with that was mentioned in another thread, or somethin else all together. If it was a resistor problem then where would it be located on this unit? If any other info is needed, I will provide if at all possible. Thanks in advance to whom helps me out.
