I'm going to have to second the VideoHelp.com site. DVD's are just like CD's. Only they hold a lot more data. Both can be used as data storage disks. Both can be used as video disks. CD's can be used as music disks. There may be a DVD music disk but since I don't listen to music I wouldn't know about it. Disks that will be used in a DVD player need to be compatable with the DVD player. Some players support more formats than others. At the very least you will need some kind of authoring software. This is the software that will create the menues and chapters And some software will do it automatically. It all depends on how complicated or easy you want to make it. hi Caroline1947, I am sorry that you didn't understand. Is the computer under warranty? If it is, please call your manufacturer, they will be able to walk you through the steps. I found an old post about the same topic. As far as the cables go, the interior of your computer case is filled with cables that connect each device to the power supply and the motherboard. If your cds will play in a regular household player, and the player does not say "mp3/cd-r/rw compatible" chances are your cds are formatted as regular cds not mp3 disks - does that sound right? Did you convert the files to be regular cd type files, or did you just burn the mp3 files to disk as is? Some car cd players won't play burned disks at all, most newer ones specify that they can; and what formats. I had a 99 VW Golf, and some played, some didn't but mostly it was ok but that was not so much by design. The disks you use make a difference, avoid heavy/dark dye/base layers, the more silver looking (like commercial cds) the better. Ipod or similar may have to be your workaround. The slightly reduced quality (mp3 is a lossy format) you get used to, and having the range of songs, random play and eliminating need to change cds probably make it worthwhile.

Will it play any of a DVD? I assume you've tried different DVDs (including commercial DVDs if all you've tried are ones you've burned yourself). If the answer to both suggestions is 'no', you can try getting one of those devices that cleans CD and DVD players. However, you might find that the cost of one of those kits is about half the price of a new DVD player of the caliber of a Cyberhome.
