Carmelized onion and swiss rustic loaf-yes or no?

Bread is a-rising, onions are ready, yummy caramelized onion bread is well on it's way. Why do these two slices of swiss cheese keep nagging at me to join it? Do you think I should let them come along or should they be left to their original sandwich destinies? (I'm thinking grated and inside the dough- never tried this, and I'm not sure if it would ruin the loaf.)
