Answering Machine in two rooms?

marliz

I rarely answer the phone unless the caller ID is someone I know because my husband gets tons of calls and it's easier to let the answering machine handle them.

Problem is I am usually working downstairs in my office, so when my mother calls with her phone card (it registers "caller unknow") I can't hear the machine so don't know it is her unless I run halfway upstairs to hear -- difficult because I am handicapped with arthritis.

Does anyone know what would happen if I bought another answering machine and used it downsairs while the upstairs one is also on?

Does anyone know of an answering machine that allows two on a one line system?

If there is no other way, I could buy a baby monitor system to monitor the calls, but would have to remember to turn them on when I went down. (Anyone know how practical it would be to leave those on all the time?

Would be so grateful for advice!

Thank you,

Peggy
