If it's the ad then all you need to do is get Firefox and NoScript. I'd actually recommend doing that regardless. I'm sure Google Chrome has the same plugin or at least one similar, IE is just a nightmare and the first thing I do on any computer is get a better browser. It's also responsible for about 70-80% of the problems people are having when they bring me their computer to fix it.

there are some sites that are indeed simply search engines for tv shows and for music etc, the results you get from the search are just like you would get in a google search they simply direct you to another site which may or may not have what you are looking for, in the case of movies videos and music if the sites you get directed to are not sites that check the files for malware you can most definitely get an infected download, some sites are set up specifically to spread certain malware through freebies, you get what you searched for but you get an added gift that keeps on giving. I use Hulu which is streaming, if the site is streaming and not an actual download site it should be ok. Any time you use any type of search engine you run the risk of ending up on a nefarious site which is why I also use WOT which will warn you if the site is rated poorly, site advisor does it also but WOT is my preferred site checker.

I have started having some very strange problems with mine. I have 3 computers hooked up to one KVM switch so I only have one monitor, mouse, keyboard and speakers for all. My mouse is a wireless usb, my keyboard is older hp keyboard with a ps2 to usb adapter which plugs into my usb slot of the KVM switch. I can start up my hp xp computer and everything works fine, just as it should, my other computers, linux and new xp pc all work fine. The problem comes when I switch from my HP xp pc to one of the others on the kvm then switch back to the HP xp, then my mouse is locked up and at times so is my keyboard, my computer is on and working fine but I have no control, I tried unplugging the usb mouse and the usb keyboard but that now does not help, it seems as if there is no power to them. And the strangest part is I got my old ps2 mouse out and tried plugging it directly into the back of my HP xp machine and that did not work either, nor did plugging my ps2 keyboard directly into the ps2 plugin on the back of the pc. I have to do a hard shutdown of the HP xp machine to gain back my full control then all is fine. I do not have that problem on either of the other 2 pcs that are connected to the kvm switch. I have been going nuts trying to troubleshoot this and figure out what the heck is causing it. So if any of you have any thoughts or ideas on what to try please let me know I am willing to try anything just about at this point. I did just plug in a new keyboard which I had available, it is ps2 also so I have the usb adapter on it plugged into the usb slot on the KVM switch and still have the usb wireless mouse. I am on my linux pc now and everything works perfectly. I may try a system restore to before these issues started, it seems there are a few other settings that are different on my HP machine that happened about the same time but who knows if that is related. At this point I am just leaving it shut down till I need to access it then I boot it up do what I need and shut it down again. A pain! I do not know much about electricals and that sorta seems like what this maybe. I also considered if my usb card has gone wacky in my pc and is not providing good power to the kvm switch. Anyone??? got any ideas?

Lots of different ways: Connecting your Laptop to an HDTV. Myself I like connecting Wirelessly if I'm going to connect to a HDTV, I hate those cables. I really just end up using my Laptops 15.6" Screen. My Acer Aspire V5 573p-6896 Laptop has a 1920 x 1080 Resolution, it's a Crystal Clear Picture, as good or better than my HDTV (No, I'm not complaining about my HDTV). The Normal Resolution for most 15.6" laptops is 1366 x 768 or 1600 x 900. We don't have a Smart TV in our Front Room where I'd use the Wireless at (Older 42" Magnavox LCD HDTV). I do however use a Google Chromecast hooked up to this TV to Stream with. Our Bedroom TV's ( 32" Magnavox LED & 48" Vizio LED ) are Smart TV's which are usually used for either Netflix or VUDU. I usually use the Frontier FIOS Cable Box to watch TV. Azinoh mentioned, there are TV Tuners for your computer. I have a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1600 in my Desktop Computer and I have a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-950Q for my Laptop. These Tuner Cards work pretty good for Viewing TV on your Computer. I only have an Antenna's hooked up and I receive around 14 High Definition Channels. I did have a Cable Box at one time in my Computer Room that was hooked up to the Hauppauge 1600 TV Tuner Card. But since I spend more time on my Laptop these days, I decided to save a few $$$ and get rid of the cable box!
