Comments (12)HT= homesteading today It might be that the moderators are slow lately at approving new members- some IIRC are out of town/ not at the computer daily. As RN says one can not post on GC until proving one is actually a participant elsewhere in the forum. They have in past had problems with some trolls registering with new names so maybe they are being slower and more careful at new members. It is even possible (no offense intended presmudjo; anything is possible right?) that the OP is a troll there on HT angry they can not get back on the site, or that the moderators fear they might be! Anyway those of you with troubles starting there try giving it a week, repeat your requests to them weekly or so, even reapply before giving up if what you see as a guest appeals as much as it does to me as a member. To be unbiased I sometimes get rude responses from a few folks- I venture into many forums that discuss more sensitive issues than gardening such as religion politics or how to raise your kids! - and once had what I felt was inadequate support when a slighty crazy member began sending me and many others poison PMs. While they didn't do as I asked I have to hope my complaints about that member added to influence their later decision to bar them from the forum for further more egregious sins. And despite occasional arguments between folks on those more sensitive topics they all seem to forget their differences when giving garden or other homesteading or family raising or life advice in other threads. Only once have I decided not to take the consruction type advice from a fellow I know votes directly opposite to me (and occasionally attacked my political opinions) since the advice seemed bad and I feared he was either as dumb as I believed him from his expressed political opinions or actually trying to do me harm....See MoreScariest Web Site for Appliance Shopper
Comments (25)Our GE microwave transformer/magnatron caught fire and filled our home with thick black noxious smoke. It was only about 2 years old! It was scary, were were lucky the breaker turned it off because it wouldn't turn off!!! If this happened to you call Contact Consumer Product Safety division, Consumer product Safety commission, in our area the phone number is 631 724-0154, also call Underwriters Labratories, and document it on "bringgoodthingstolife.org Make sure it says .org not .com. Because ge just sent us from department to department an "didn't notifiy the proper department" after a few days they will finely realize you are not going away if you keep calling, then they will send you to their Electric insurance, then you will get a call from their attorney asking you questions, beware tell him to you have to consult an attorney before you say anything. Then Samsung who actually made the microwave, their insurance Chubb will contact you, thats when it goes from bad to worse. Our fire was on Dec 24th, 2010, Chubb accepted restoration January 5th, 2011. I found out I should have just gone through my homeowners because GE just bounces you around and around and around. I should have called an attorney and Consumer Product Safety right away. Any one looking to buy a microwave should google GE Microwave class action, GE micowave law suit, GE micowave follow it by either defect, malfunction, transforer fire, magnatron fire....See MoreLooking for web sites to order Grohe fixtures
Comments (7)Have received products (Hansgrohe, Kohler, Delta) from both Faucetdirect and faucetdepot, both have been fine, reasonably prompt and mostly, economical. As a matter of a fact, just received the last piece of my order- Hansgrohe roman tub filler, today from faucetdepot. That last piece needed to be ordered (not in their regular stock), but I was aware of that when I ordered. They did not charge my credit card until the last item had been shipped, which I thought was nice. Faucetdirect has sent me stuff wicked fast more that once over the last 2 years....See Moredockside_gw
