Where do you find your grapeseed oil

So many of the recipes here on the cooking forum have mentioned grapeseed oil but I've never seen it in my grocery stores. Can you tell me where you buy yours?

Trader Joes carries..most groceries will have it on the top shelf in the oil aisle. I actually buy mine online. Likey the one you can find in a grocery is made by Spectrum.

Spectrum from Natural Foods or TFM (The Fresh Market. I have found oils like grapeseed and walnut oil at TJMaxx and HomeGoods but I always check the expiration date.

I would offer the suggestion that you start looking for the best varieties in the kinds of orchids you buy. Figure out what grows well in your conditions, and then unless you have unlimited space, buy the best varieties. They all take space, light, and care, but some plants are just more vigorous and floriferous than others, and they are worth an extra few dollars. For example, Phal Baldan's Kaleidoscope 'Golden Treasure' is one great plant. Another great phal that's not expensive is Taisuco Firebird. Both often put up two spikes and bloom for months. Another smaller plant that I absolutely love is Bc. Memoria Bernice Foster, which blooms twice a year for me, and has a faint but pervasive scent in the evening. There are many other great plants like these, which forum members will happily tell you about. My bottom line, after 6-8 years of growing orchids, is that you figure out what you like and can grow well, and buy the best of those varieties. That said, I have a big brassia that takes a lot of space and hasn't bloomed for more than a year. If it doesn't put up some spikes pretty soon, it will be looking for a new home.

So I stopped in at a Sephora store today. The cleansing oil's immediate scent made me think of orange-scented household cleaning liquid (like Orange-Glo), but it dissipated quickly. The store had a 2-piece "trial size" box for $18, but I passed on it, wanting to read more about the Argan oil and other oils people use. I tried the hand cream, which was very nice (I'm still getting over my winter-hands roughness/redness/tiny "cuts" in many places on the hands -- I guess I just "abuse" them on zippers and such and just don't realize it.) Several years ago, a friend gave me a Body Shop almond oil cuticle cream, and I pulled it out again this winter, and that helped a bit. I finally learned to not use any hand creams that contain alcohol; Udderly Smooth seems not to have any. Now to my next question: Does the coconut oil's scent dissipate quickly, too? I'm talking about the Trader Joe's kind. (Or, does the coconut oil have a scent at all? Maybe thinking about the coconut kind of scent in suntan lotions has led me astray in my assumption -- maybe that scent is artificially added?)

I have tried several ways of advertising, and honestly so far my best response comes from craigslist, but its also more expensive. To get good results you have to post atleast 25 times per day, so you basically have to employ someone to get it done. You don't seem to be one for following rules. Your violated the rules here by posting your business name and Craigslist limits ads to "...to one category and in one city, no more often than about every 48 hours." Are building codes something you ignore as well?

Good questions! It looks like it's adjustable, but I'll need to check. It's definitely tall enough for oil bottles, buehl - that's one of the reasons I'm interested in it. It's 20" tall. Mindstorm, I like the look of yours but wonder if it's tall enough for oil. It doesn't look like it to me but I could be wrong...I also like the narrowness of the one I'm looking at - it's only 6" wide. Buehl, you make a good point about refrigeration. Truth is, most of my oils are in the fridge, and my nuts and pt butter - I heard that olive oil is okay at room temp so have always stored it that way, but investigating that is probably not a bad idea...since that's mostly what i use for cooking...i would also use the pull out it for flavored vinegars, cooking wines and sherries, , soy sauce, etc...which don't need refrigeration and which are currently in a mess on the counter, or in the cabinet. Our Safeway has it on the top shelf in the oil area. It is a good product, but I like the grapeseed at Whole Foods better. Of course, it costs more, but not too bad for as long as it lasts.

Thanks Terry. They have a nice website. I'll look a little closer at the grocery store, but it seems like I've done so several times. But then Publix has just rearranged their whole store and some of it doesn't make much sense.

Trader Joes is where I find it, and our TJ's is so busy that I feel pretty confident that they turn it over quickly.

"That $%^@# Big Box Place" that I hate to admit going into but can't seem to completely avoid did have it in their ethnic food section a couple months ago. I didn't buy or try it, so can't say how good it was or wasn't. They allegedly send anything that's been on the shelf more than 90 days back for credit, so chances are it's relatively fresh.

I've also seen it at Raley's (a regional chain) and two of the local chains who are trying to market to "scratch cookers".

I've never used grapeseed oil but I know our local coop carries it.

If you have a coop or a natural food store in your area that may be another place to look.

Thanks for all these suggestions. I'll definitely start looking around. They opened a TJ's a couple of years back but I haven't been in it since it's a good little distance. Same with Fresh Market. Lot's of natural food stores and large hispanic neighborhoods near by. The middle eastern are surely here too. Will check all of them since it would be great to see all of the items they carry.

And quite forgot about our Harry's Farmers Market (whole food owned) who has a huge selection of olive oils so they probably carry it.

Check the price at Columbus Food online. www.soaperchoice.com. They are all top food grade and they have a lot of organics. Don't remember if the grapeseed is organic or not.

I usually get mine at TJ's which is out of town for me. I live in a small town but I can also find it at Kroger. It's in their organic section though and not with the regular cooking oils.

Dirtgirl, Are you near the Harry's on 1180 Upper Hembree Road? Love that pl, well I did before it became WF. We were going through ATL on I-75 2 weeks ago and I thought I saw a Harry's from the interstate; is that a new location?

I've never bought it either but I see it all the time at a local middle eastern imports store (as Jessy mentioned).

What do y'all use it for?
