Q-Seal to permanently seal stone - anyone use?
Comments (8)Bill - your work never fails to amaze me. Absoulutely beautiful! And I agree - marble has been around way longer than any of us and is definitely not a fad. For some reason I haven't been able to figure out, there are many porcelain look alikes for calacutta, but none for cararra. Calacutta is too gold for my project. Do you know the manufacturer of that tile? Maybe they make a carrara look alike? I don't see myself spilling nail polish remover in my shower :-) But, I hear what you are saying. The Q-seal stuff is intriguing though. I started looking for porcelain subways that are not marble look alikes and I think I found a winner. It's the Villery and Boch Bernina series. Will probably do a strip of decos in cararra to get my marble fix and just have to deal with keeping that sealed which hopefully won't be a big deal. May still do floor in honed marble because it was just so beautiful I can't resist. Shower is small (32x48) so sealing that shouldn't be a big deal. Holly - I think you misunderstood. I do not want faux stone. I want real stone without the maintenance. I actually do not like faux stone at all and most of the time it looks fake to me and my even more picky husband (Bill's job above is definitely the exception!). The Q-Seal is not faux stone made with real stone. It's real stone. Any stone. And then they apply a sealer and bake it in. nikinikinine - thanks for the info. Please come back and let us all know how it goes. Would really love to know more about this stuff and how it holds up over time. Good luck with your project!...See MoreHow Do You Remove Magic Marker..
Comments (19)My youngest son did some "art" on one of my end tables that was solid wood. I used WD40. If it didn't hurt the wood, I don't know why it would harm a fridge. Or, look in the automotive department at Wal Mart and get GUNK for engines. That will remove most anything....See Morepermanent labels
Comments (4)I'm not sure that anyone who is going to steal from a church is going to be deterred by a label but I'd use a stencil and spray paint designed for plastic. Most ordinary plastic bins have pretty thin walls and any kind of burning might melt right through the plastic. Might make more sense to talk with the minister about a secure place to store your stuff or it might make more sense to invest in a lockable cabinet? A simple particle board free standing cabinet is about $100. I would imagine you could find a handy church member to assemble it and add a simple hasp to secure your stuff....See MorePermanent 'Messages'
Comments (22)I used to have REALLY HOT hot water. Well, I still do, but now I have a single-handle faucet, so I don't worry about guests' burning themselves by hoping they only have to turn on one side of the water, or by turning on a lot of hot (bcs you'd need a LOT of cold to balance it) I got one of those engraved plastic signs (I saw a booth at the mall and got it there) and had it say "Caution: Hot Water Can Be Scalding" and put it over each sink. I didn't have room for an easel, and it was enough of a safety concern that I didn't want to fear that I'd forget to put it up when company was coming. A few friends thought it was weird that I'd live in my personal home w/ a sign that looked like it was from an office restroom, but I just didn't care. I don't think I'd know what "flush big" meant, but maybe "Please hold handle down 5 seconds" would be clear. If I had your problem, I'd try to find a plastic sign the color of my wall tiles, and use foam poster tape to stick it to the wall right above the toilet. Here is a link that might be useful: engraved plastic signs--$7 or so, for a little one...See Morechefnewbie
