Best Business Cards Online?

Hi GW'ers!

Over the last few years I've gotten very involved in community service & frequently do strategic planning, writing, editing, and promotion for activities and programs that the community organizations I support are involved in.

Lately, businesses have asked me to do things too, for free, just like I do for non-profits! I think it's time to start spreading the word that I'm available for hire.

I want some really nice business cards. I got some cards for free from Staples a while ago (I call them my "Mommy" cards) but they just have my contact info, nothing else. I've ordered things through Vistaprint too and they're fine but just not the quality I want right now.

If you've ordered business cards online, where did you get them and did you like them?

We order our business cards locally - never ordered online. Personal service and the ability to view differing weights, designs, etc., in person was very valuable.

I was going to suggest vistaprint, only because I've used them for some casual invitations (which have been exactly as expected), but they've been heavily advertising their business cards lately.

In the event you do you have a local company that does business card engraving, that would be your best resource IMO.

I got mine from Zazzle. I really like the look of them. But thery are a color over standard card stock, which means that if they sit in someone's wallet or purse, they will tend to "wear" in a way that isn't so attractive. I'll probably switch up next time so I don't have a color over card stock, and use the actual color of the card stock as the background.

Neal Buss on ebay, and he is the only one on ebay that I would buy from. He has plants from $5.00 up. He advertises double fans, you usually get at least 4. I bought 2 double fans of MAPLE HUES, and got 9 fans, sometimes you only get 3. They send extra fans but no Bonus, which at this point is better. Here is the link, I will share it now since I am finished shopping. Oh they are all BUY-IT-NOW listings, so there is no bidding, just buying. He also sells the good metal markers, and will custom make labels for them, you just make the purchase and suply the list. Nice people, and Excellent service and plants. Has anyone had experience with Hostas Direct? I'm waiting on an order from them, and after some of the posts I've read, I'll be looking at my shipment with a critical eye. There are 3 features of their website that swayed me to buy their products: 1. Many Hostas are available in 3 different sizes - starter (rooted tissue culture starts), advanced starter (about 2X bigger) and mature division - so you can get a small Hosta for a small price, or a larger Hosta for a reasonable price. 2. They have several cultivars for less than $5, and they are not always the smaller sizes for that price - sometimes you can get a mature division. 3. After placing a $50 order, I got a free Hosta of my choosing (from a list). I chose 'Stained Glass', which is a newer Hosta. They were swift in sending me an order confirmation with an invoice number, which not all online nurseries do. I also like their website. When you are looking through their selections, you can sort by name, price, rating, bestsellers, etc. And you can search by color, 1st letter of the name, sun-resistant, slug-resistant, AHS rating, etc. They give detailed information about each Hosta, listing everything from leaf color to leaf size, number of vein pairs, lineage, plant size, etc. You can do a side-by-side comparison of Hostas. They have a shopping cart and a wish list. My wish list is full of Hostas that I intend to buy next month, in $50 increments. So far, I am really impressed, but like I said, I am still waiting for the plants to arrive. I would appreciate anyone's input on their experience with this company. bejoy2

Vista is the way to go. They will give you 250 cards free (you pay shipping) as an introduction to their service. You could also go to Office Depot or any of the other Mega Office supply stores and buy a business card DIY kit which will have perforated cards (10 to a sheet I think) and a disk with simple point and click instructions. Be careful about what graphics you get from google. Many of them are copyrighted and you will never know until some one sues for copyright infringement. Another way to go though it Photobucket.com They advertise something like a billion graphics, clip art and photos online. Generally no copyright problems and if the owner has copyrighted something they are very willing to let you use it for a small consideration of telling people where you got it.

I make my own; never had the need to pay someone to print them for me. You may want to consider it until you find what you're looking for. You can buy a pack at Staples that will be decent enough to hand out while you test the waters.

I have a program called Microsoft Picture It Express; it was free on an MSN disk years ago. When making new cards; I open one of my other cards & just edit to.

I've been using Vistaprint exclusively since 2003 and have received nothing but excellent quality and professional looking products.

I always order premium cards with a gloss finish and they look as wonderful, if not better, than any other business card I've seen.

The colors are always spot on and I love all of the matching products you can order.

I've ordered mugs, tote bags, t-shirts, post-its, note cards, business card calendar magnets, car door magnets, and memo pads - most of those were free or significantly reduced in price because I took advantage of one or their emails.

The promotions they send are wonderful and it's a great way to brand your business on a budget.

Just my personal experience, ymmv. :))

Ditto what Joanie said about VistaPrint. What I like is when I go back to re-order, I just click on my old order. They're inexpensive & very good!
