Lots of talk in the *Cleaning Forum* here about them. I don't have one but I got to see my neighbor's in action and it did not leak or leave the floors too wet (the two biggest complaints about them). It really made the white vinyl flooring squeaky clean.

I have a Hoover Floormate and have posted about it. You don't have to use the chemical cleaner they sell for it. Vinegar works find and is waaay cheaper.

I am positively PASSIONATE about steam cleaning, well, not exactly, but it is sooooo much better than soap and water cleaning for ceramic floors.

Someone posted recently on the Cleaning forum about having purchased a Wagner steam cleaner from Costco. Is that the one you got?

You may or may not like it for a major grout cleaning project. If I had really dirty grout, I would clean it with a powerful grout cleaner first, seal it, then use the steamer to keep it clean. IMO, much of what makes grout look dirty is the saopy water you use to clean the floor. If you vacuum and then steam clean, I think the grout stays cleaner.

This summer I bought both a floor steam cleaner and hand held steamer. I do love my floor steamer but not the way I LOVE my hand held. I use it with a microfiber cloth, plug it in and clean everything in sight. Graywings is right, SOOO much better than soapy water, lugging a pail around.

I purposely bought an extension cord to make it around everywhere. Mirrors,windows,baseboards,wall gunk, microwave, fridge... you name it! This summer I even brought it out to the car on a rainy day and got the interior looking brand new, which with my mess makers is no easy feat, my husband was very impressed.

My friends say I need to be on an infomercial because truly I am impressed that only steam gets EVERYTHING clean and so shiny.

I may have taken it too far because the other morning my morning hair wasn't going to be able to make a trip into town. What possessed me I don't know, but I plugged it in, lightly steamed my whole head, scrunched and was totally revived- enough to make it through the whole day.

Oh one more tidbit! Paint splatters come right up with a a cloth or fingernail scrape if you hit them with your steamer.

Which brand of steam cleaner do you have? I just saw an infomercial on on TV for one that has micro fiber heads that you can swap out.

Ditto. I would like to know the brand you have. I have not heard good things about the handheld steam cleaners but it sounds like they have been greatly improved and I would love something that works like you describe.

I bought one years ago, before they became popular. It was rather expensive, but after having my first child, I wanted to get rid of harsh chemicals in the home, and that included cleaning products. I love it, but it is heavy and bulky, and I only use it when doing a major cleaning. I did use it to remove wallpaper in my current home. I am planning on purchasing a shark steam mop, for every day use on my floors.

It was the shark, and it came with the floor cleaner. Because it was a cheap FREE add on it did not come with any attachments. While deliberating on the floor cleaner I saw the same steamer with all the attachments in Bed Bath and Beyond for about $50. I was set on getting both, but my son, in his teenage wisdom, made sense when he said go for the free one and see how it works first. Mine is just the plain jane model pure direct steam, eventually I will get a more deluxe model.

I saw the one with the sleeves but wondered how well it would work on heavy duty cleaning. The concentrated steam blast really can loosen up gunk with repeated blasts, plus in corners it practically blows the dust and dirt out. The sleeves I would imagine would be nice for maintenance. The steam leaves an incredible shine on countertops, stainless steel, plastic shells on appliances. See there I go again, I am still impressed. Behind toilets, blast and wipe- incredible.

I did buy a huge bag of orange microfiber cloths at Sam's Club and honestly I rarely use chem's anymore. I also bought extra pads for the mop too. On the cleaning forum several ladies said the floor cleaner takes a bit longer to show such shine on floors because the surface is so huge, and due to the amount of residue that is left on them. I would agree with that especially on my laminate floor, it may have taken 5 times for it to show a better shine with less streaks.

I purchased the Wagner that was at Costco. I didn't get a chance to use it today, but plan to give it a whirl tomorrow.
