Polly - I am very sorry to hear this. The loss of a loved one is never easy but the death of a child to these painful, insidious diseases is just unimaginable.

I had a similar experience last year with a little girl in the Houston area who lost her 1 yr battle to Neuroblastoma. It was so heart-wrenching that I couldn't stop crying as I followed her story. In fact, the first time I ever posted in this "conversations" section was to appeal for prayers for her as she suffered painfully in her last week alive. The day she died, I couldn't stop holding and kissing my own children who were her age.

I hope the little boy's parents find strength and peace in the midst of the pain and sorrow they must be feeling.

I'm so sorry Polly! I am sure that little boy's illness, and also how his parents have dealt with this, have inspired many others. I hope many feel the same as you - to not take anything for granted.

Life can be way too short, and it can change in a second.

Binsd, was that little girl Layla Grace? This little boy also had neuroblastoma. It is such an evil cancer, and funding for research is simply not enough. That was why his mom started this charity to try to raise funding for reasearch and treatments to try and find a cure or more effective treatment. She is a remarkable woman, my heart is broken for her.

I am so sorry to hear your sad news, Polly. I cannot imagine anything worse than losing a child and my heart goes out to his family.

Polly - yes! It was Layla Grace. Her parents started a foundation to help raise money for neuroblastoma research. After responding to your post last night, I went online to check on its progress and it seems to be doing well. I hope things are going well for "your" little boy's charity. You're right - it is an evil disease that shows no mercy. :(

I am so sorry. No parent should ever have to bury a child. What an inspiring family.

How sad... I haven't been following any of the kids I normally do because of stuff in my own life.

Polly, are you talking about Bradley? I'm devastated. I was following his progress and it seemed that the new spot was nothing to worry about. OMG, how tragic this news is.

I had been getting regular blog updates until recently and then they stopped.

Mona, no it's not Bradley.

This little boy's name is Liam. His family's only wish is that he did not die in vain. They will continue the work with their charity to raise funds for research for treatments of pediatric cancer.

My friend who is close with them is devastated.
