Oakley thought I should check with you re: my boots

I FB'ed a picture of the boots I planned to wear with my black dress and groovy jacket. Oakley thinks they should be worn with pants or leggings and that I should check in with a picture for opinions here.

So, I think these will look good with my outfit but I can switch them out for my Ecco heels. Need your opinion. The boots are knee length. (Ignore the small blue vase behind them)

I think it depends on the material and style of the dress. Can you post that and the ecco heels too?

LOL!!! I was thinking the same thing as bumble. Put the dress on a hanger with the boots next to them.

See, I thought they were "cowboy" type ankle shoes when I saw them, not boots.

this paragraph right here from the website linked above pretty much answers the question. It says those that will be paid a percentage WERE previously NOTIFIED of the pending trial, if you were not so notified I would question why you are now receiving anything related. Been there, done that...lint is such a HUGE annoyance to my life. We're in a 2nd floor condo where the dryer vent ducting goes to the roof through the attic over 20 feet and several elbows. My husband bought the condo years before we met, and the ducting was clogged after several years. At the time, he decided to disconnect the vent from the duct. The resulting moisture did some damage to the cabinetry (swelling of the particle board, even under layers of oil-based paint). Soon after we married, he decided we needed to fix the problem correctly. He went up into the attic and disassembled the ducting, brought it outside, and blew it out with his air compressor. I pushed some cleaning tool through it as well. We can't be doing this regularly! I mean preferably, never again! So, I had him put a filter -- a gallon paint strainer -- over the dryer vent where it connects to the machine. This clogs every month or so, we pull the machine out, disconnect the vent, clean the strainer, and put it back. This is still an annoying chore, but not the nightmare of dealing with the whole duct run. My husband had a cool idea, that what we need to do is sew a new, longer strainer that tapers to a skinny point, so that even when it clogs at the point, there can still be air flowing past the clogged strainer, and we should be able to go longer between cleanings. We got a new dryer last summer, and pulled the ducting out of the attic to clean it -- but it was already clean as a whistle. So, our secondary filter system has kept the duct run clean for 9 years. I found you can buy secondary lint traps with a door that opens to clean them out, but we don't have room to install the box in our laundry room, and I don't think it would work any better or be easier to clean than our homemade filter. When I redo the floor, I plan to put magic slider thingies under the dryer feet to make it easier to move in and out, plus I won't want to gouge my new floor. I have researched other solutions. People claim that solid metal vent will maintain better airflow than pleated, but I think it will still clog because we need 2 90-degree elbows to get it connected to the duct in the wall. And if it clogs, how do we pull out the machine with a non-stretching vent? If we could move the duct in the wall to match the dryer vent outlet, that would eliminate 2 elbows and would probably help... I also found you can install a secondary fan in the ducting near the exit, increasing the airspeed in long ducts so the lint won't clog. They cost $150-200, but if I never had to clean out the duct run or pull out the dryer to clean my makeshift secondary lint trap ever again, it would be well worth it. I also think that our ducting is leaky somewhere, because rooms on the other side of the wall (our master bath) get crusted with lint all the time. Finding and sealing those leaks would probably improve airspeed some, plus save me tons of work cleaning the lint all the time. I think the additional fan is the way to go. In 2 other areas where we replaced an ineffective low-cfm cheap fan with a high-cfm good one, like the hood over our cooktop, it made an amazing difference, night and day. Instead of moving the window, why not add another? That's what I did for Plan D, along with a few other tweaks. It's a blend of your Plan A and my Plan A, and a little bit of your Plan B. As always, aisle measurements are counter to counter, counter to appliance front or counter to wall. Yes, it's lower than a wall oven but it's higher than an oven in a range and it's one way to gain more counter and that sounded like it was more of a priority for you than oven height. Next to the oven is a 36" range. Not sure if these two appliances can be installed side by side or if you'll need to add a 6" pull-out cab between them. If so, that would be a great place to store spices. Between the range and the must-stay wall are two 26" wide drawer cabs. I evenly divided the space. You should determine cab widths based on your needs. The fridge is on the other side of the must-stay wall. There aren't any cabs opening into this aisle so a 39" aisle should be fine. The MW drawer is still across from the fridge. Not sure how you use your MW but if it's to reheat left-overs and such, this placement makes sense. I think there's enough room to have fridge doors and MW drawer open without hitting each other but if that's not the case and it's a concern, put the MW drawer in the range wall run next to the must-stay wall. I show an apron front sink in a 30" sink cab, gaining you a bit more cab and counter in the island. DW is where I showed it in my Plan A. Since the range has shifted towards the pantry (and back to being centered on the can light), these two appliances are no longer across from each other. You could still switch sink and DW placement but that will leave you with only 16.5" of counter next to the sink. I shifted the island 2" towards the DR, easing the pinch point you were concerned about by the fridge. This obviously reduces the aisle between island and DR wall but since you plan on enlarging the DR opening, this won't be an issue, IMO. Plus there are only 3 seats at the island, not 4, to avoid pinch points between island and DR wall. Additionally, you could probably increase the counter overhang an inch or two more, or even three inches, depending on how wide the new DR opening will be. The island is all one level, btw. Tishtosh I can now only buy dress shirts at Brooks Brothers, because I can get a large neck and shoulders, very short sleeves and a relatively very narrow (for the neck size) waist. They are expensive, but less than custom, and probably less than buying a cheaper shirt and then getting them tailored properly Before, where I grew up there was a Japanese woman who would take my shirts apart at the shoulder, move the sleeves up, and taper the sides, and she did not charge like she was making a whole shirt. The first time I tried to get sleeves shortened anywhere else they got chopped off at the bottom with the cuffs moved up and there was no split left above the cuff. ----- Poverty has changed in America. If you look at the films made in Appalachia in the 1960s, the poor were painfully thin for the most part. They were also poor in a different way. I just got back from San Diego, which seems to have a significant homeless problem and I saw several very dirty, homeless lying right on the sidewalk in the garbage/utility areas of a large building---looking at their cell phones. Now morbid obesity and poverty are related, at least where I live. I even see morbid obesity among the homeless, barring the obvious drug addicts. Many of the patients I see in the teaching program that gets referrals from the public health system are obese, and some of them are so morbidly obese they can't walk unassisted. Most of the poor here seem to eat almost nothing but junk food or fast food, and this is a change from the past. And fast food is full of carbs and hormones. But it's all relatively cheap compared to keeping good food around the house. ------ I also think men's bodies are changing and this also has to do with hormones in food. In the generation younger than mine, especially--the first one to grow up on chicken fingers and the like, there are many many body types on males that are feminized. Bottom heavy, curvy hips and thighs, pear shaped, man boobs. (Some of this may apparently have to do with Ritalin or other ADD drugs too?). Even otherwise thin men in this generation seem to have very large asses and hips and little pouchy bellies. This is not how men were built when I was in my 20s, There were thin guys and there were fat guys and there were muscular guys, but there was not the thin with subcutaneous fat in certain areas type of build.

My black dress is polyester. The jacket is polyester/nylon textured in black and navy (Very subtle print).

The boots are suede and leather. Not cowboy at all but with a pointy toe (Stacy and Clinton would approve).

My knee caps show between the dress and the boots. The boots aren't exactly knee high as they hit below. They hit just below. I'd say about 4" of sheer black nylons will show with the boots.

I think a dress would work with those boots - now remember we haven't seen the particular dress though. I'm impressed that you can do the high, skinny heels! LOL

Tina, Aimee made me try on the entire outfit and parade around her house. She said if I walked like a Dork, she wouldn't loan them to me. I passed her test so she sent them along.

I think they have a younger attitude too but Oakley wasn't sure they would work with a dress and encouraged me to bring them here for more opinions.

When you say opague tights, I am planning to wear Leggs Sheer Energy in Jet Black. I do have tights I could switch out to. I thought someone said sheer black in the other thread. Gosh, I'm going to feel like you are all with me tomorrow.

I am going to do the tights. Then I won't have to shave my legs. (Wish I wasn't being serious.) And, yes, my under arms are kept shaved.

I vote for those fabulous boots!

My first thought was opaque hose but the sheer would be a nice visual break between the solid black of the dress & boot.

Did Aimee see you in the entire outfit? what was her opinion?

Yes, Aimee saw me in the entire outfit. I took my dress and she went through her clothing collection and chose the boots. She was thinking I should do the Leggs, for the break, too. I think Stinky or Trail mentioned sheer black nylons too.

She loved the boots with the outfit, thought it was very San Francisco. LOL!

It's so nice to be able to wear the same size as my DD! She is actually a size smaller in jeans but the rest of her wardrobe fits (dresses, tops, shoes, etc.). We borrow each others clothes.

Gold, I forgot to tell you, I am so jealous of your kitchen table. I did a topic last year asking why people don't put tables in their kitchens anymore and instead use islands. There is nothing more comfy and versatile than a kitchen table. I wish my kitchen was big enough for one.

Since I'm on a braided rug kick, one of those under your table would be fab! lol

Also, do you still have the wallpaper in your living room? I kind of like it. Wallpapered LR's is another thing that's gone by the wayside, even in country homes like your's. Your paper makes the room serene, IMO.

What do you use that darling shed/house for in the yard? Heck, I'll move in there! :)

Oakley, the kitchen wallpaper is history. And not a moment too soon. I love a kitchen table in my kitchen, even if it defies all kitchen organization. Yes, if I didn't have animals, I may consider a rug in the kitchen but I like to easily clean. I love braided rugs too and have one upstairs but have more antique persian ones because of family hand me downs.

I still have the wallpaper in my living room because I am in tired of trying to decide what I want to do in that room. It's large and overwhelming.

DH built the outbuilding. It's technically our well house. It's large enough to make a small Guest house (sans bathroom) and with out MIL coming, we will likely do just that. (I've been studying trailer floor plans for ideas.) It is finished inside but not furnished. We could put in a motel style kitchen but no bathroom. The septic would be too close to our well.

Gold, no opinion on the footwear, but I LOVE YOUR HOUSE. You have the perfect balance of modern and vintage . . .

Come decorate my house when I get a new one (which will be in a long time) and the money for it. :)

I want to see your Persian rugs. I want one for my LR. I found a good deal on CL for one that is just the right size, but even though it's a good price, just can't spend right now . . .we are probably going to have to spend money on a dining room table that is too big for our room but we need the space!

Yes, Nancy. The last two pics were uploads. I own the Draper Cabinet but the last photo was an example of my MIL's taste. It's quite a contrast to what we have going on in our house.

I'm traveling toward home now. DH taking a stint at the wheel. Will upload the only pic I have of me in SF. Also took some real pics of MILs house. Need advice on how to incorporate her stuff with mine.
