new crafts/projects?

Let's sign in and tell us if there is a new craft or project in your life. I usually stick with tried and true for my craft shows, but every once in awhile, I see something and HAVE to make it... It kind of works with what I sell... Have you seen the Redneck Bird Feeders?: I just finished making the signs I plan on attaching and have the plungers with stand - all I need is birdseed and topper for the baggy for the birdseed... I'll post a picture when I start to sell it this week-end. Also - I am thinking of selling it for $8. - is that price OK? Anyone else???

Ive been working in an office since January and lost my energy to do anything fun and crafty. I'm looking for something to inspire me. I am bored. I've made soap in the past. Swirly, gorgeous home-made soaps brushed with metallic powder and some that look like real gemstone from a mine. I miss making it but it's expensive and it's too hot out now to suit up with long sleeves, gloves, goggles, etc.

Here's my project- been trying to paint vases all spring, and finally figured out how to do it. My way. lol

Imagine this- hubby wanted to use this corrogated cardboard for the bottom of the chicken coop! I think it looks much better on the vases- this is what I'm trying to glue to glass, otherwise it slips off.

Hiya Pat! Good to hear from you:) I heard you had a little problem though, I'm very sorry about that and you're having a tough time getting around town now. I hope you can figure a way around that. I hope you're feeling ok and would love to see any pics you can manage to take. I even put up a statue that says the weeds are free to take:) Are you doing any crafts? I heard from Brenda, she said that her FIL is still having bad health problems and she has to be on the phone a lot and since she has dial up that means she needs to keep the line free. She said he dog's femur got broken and she's playing nurse and her DH is working though she's upset with him that it happened on his watch. He fell out of the back of the truck. She says she misses us though and she was worried about you, Pat.

thank you! I got the icicle at the dollar store last year, they come two in a pack and has those small batteries, that come with it, had gotton them to do the blue icicle you make for someone who has lost a loved one, so desided to try to make a angel out of them, the head is a small bulb thats wraped with thread you see everywhere cheap, I poked a whole in the bottom kinda off to the side so the thread dont come undone, took a bit of working to get the hole big enough to go over the hook on the icicle, next I glued the head on with e6000 and a little hot glue,the wings are a bow with another peice for the part that goes down, tied with silver thread, I also attach the string for hanging to the back of the bow, so the angel looks like shes flying, forgot to say shes a ornament,after makeing the wings I glued them to the small silver part at the top of the icicle on the back of the angel, the silver part is what turns the lite on and also where you put the batteries, so you have to be careful that nothing gets glued to the icicle part, the halo is that wire stuff that has stars, pulled the stars off and made a circle with a peice comeing down, took the hook off the top and glued the peice that comes down in the hole where the hook was on the head and you have a angel! I am sure you crafty people will figure it out , but if anyone likes I can post a photo of the parts layed out. maybe someone here who writes poem could make one up like the blue icicle poem, was so pretty! everyone I gave them to cried, sad but a thought full gift, seems the time of year when we think about and sooo miss our loved ones that have passed. sorry minie! you know I cant stop, you make just as adorable crafts! Hi everyone! FYI-The sharpie paint pens are oil based. no need to seal oil based pens/paint. I’ve used the ”painters” pens and I find they are unreliable as the nib frays and paint dries up quickly. Also, the paint thats specifically for plastic peeled off in one sheet and came off as I was working on the rest of the box. My question was if I do seal the project (most likely) do I use the sealer on the entire box or just the parts I painted? I think It would be hard to just seal the painted parts as I painted the girls name and painted some princesses on it as well. plus I feel that the parts I sealed will be much shinier than the rest of the box. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks so much! Happy painting!

We are noticing the popular thing right now is burlap. So instead of lace on the corrugated, wrap burlap with something on it.

Mjowest- nice! Do you waterproof the cardboard somehow? If you use burlap be aware you may be allergic to it(same with twine) Your nose will itch or eyes water so give it a try but some may not buy because of that. Might be able to modge -podge burlap or something to contain the problem. I just saw in magazine,think it was Country Woman that just came where burlap curtain was edged with lace, looks more like a shade to me but cute! Jan

thanks all- and yes, the burlap makes me itch! there are vases with the burlap on them, you just to look closely- lol

I didn't waterproof the cardboard, just hope that people will use dried, silk, or use care in filling emptying-

I'm on vase overload here, though!

Grandma Bonnie, the redneck bird feeders sound like a riot! can't wait to see them.
I now have a serger and I'd love to think of something to make using it. Maybe expand on my already existing mushroom and flower themes. Right now I'm just using it to alter clothing for myself, and to make some indoor/outdoor cushion covers. Its still new and I haven't gotten a creative idea of how to use it yet. It is awesome tho.

lol The redneck bird feeders sounds so cool! I bet they sell good :)

Im working on paper mache pumpkins with my little girl. Right now we are just making the paper mache with balloons so we can paint them this fall as jack-o-lanterns. may even just do reg pumpkins too.
