I know many people were happy to see 2011 end. Hopefully 2012 will be a better year.

Thank you Laura, that was kind!! I just hope my DR's pull through. I have had to throw some of the babies away including the 2 remainining somalense, 3 arabicums, plus one of the big (well big for me!) obesums is still very suspect, sigh. I unpotted it and some roots are 'deflated', just like empty tubes, the caudex is spongy also, not a good sign I think? Guess someone decided I was never destined to grow these plants to flowering point. Oh well, fingers are still tightly crossed for the survivors. Gill......from a very wet and soggy UK!

Happy New Year to you too! I love darling Babe...always have admired your pictures of him. Love, love ginger kitties. And of course, dear sweet Bowie too! They are always so precious to see. Your birdfeeder reminds me of mine, overflowing with birdies. This winter is a record-setter for us in bird visitors. We have never had so many at our feeders. We put up feeders everywhere and it is paying off. We've an assortment of different feeders and suet cages and are delighted with so many kinds of birds coming. Lots of snow here too and very cold temps, so I'm glad we can help the birds get through the tough winter. Pretty daylily too! Celeste

Katy, Logee's is certainly an adventure in itself. I've been going there for years. My first times were when Joy Martin was running it. Even squeezing through the aisles single file is worth it. So many exotic plants growing over, under and around! It's only about a 40 minute ride for me. I don't know of any other greenhouses that have that kind of variety. The botanical center at Roger Williams Park here in Providence is big and interesting. There's a $3 admission though. Lunch afterwards would not be a problem. Providence has tons of great restaurants. Maybe some others here would be interested in one of these or something else. Bill

I swore after getting rid of another chunk of daylilies this fall that I wouldn't add but 3 this year. Well, with this winter upon us now I may have to add a few to my list. The high today was in the teens and it's going to stay this cold for awhile. I had a Gerbera daisy in a pot in a very protected place that had over wintered outside up until this last killer front moved in. Now it's toast. On the bright side, I hope all the bad bugs are toast along with it........I'm not ready for spring yet. Still enjoying my vacation inside, but I do wish everyone a happy New Year in 2018 with good health for all their family and loved garden companions..........Maryl

Happy New Year, everyone!

We finally got some snow last night....about 3 inches....as we were sitting around the fire with the neighbors! LOL It was a beautiful way end 2011 and a beautiful way to begin 2012.

Happy New Year!

I had dinner with a neighbor (one of the worst meals ever, LOL) and then was home to watch the ball drop while under the covers.

2012 will be perfect if it doesn't snow. Gorgeous day today and I'll go for a walk. Tonight, a movie with friends.

Happy New Year everyone!

Bright and sunny, 52 here. I plan to take advantage of it by going for a bike ride with a friend, but truth be told I'd be a lot happier if it was cold and snowing. It's December for crying out loud!

It's a beautiful day here too. Thank goodness for some cool weather, it's been a very warm Christmas. We are taking the grands out in the boat; hope to catch some grouper or whatever is going on in the Gulf today.

It's colder here than was forecast by 10 degrees (only 32F at 3:00PM) but a lovely sunny day.

Sun is shining here, but its chilly and we're having some strong winds. Hope it stays snow free for another week and a half so we can get the motorhome off our hill and head for a warmer climate for a while.

Happy New Year everyone! It's very nice here, too. I was looking out my kitchen window earlier and saw a butterfly flitting around! I'm sure we'll get some nasty weather sometime this winter.

I like what Teresa NC said, too. I ditto her wish for the year to come!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! So nice that everyone is having pleasant weather - I hope it is a sign for a great year. Like Jessy, however, I am also under the weather and have been sick since a day after we got back. I always seem to get sick when I travel at Christmas, and we won't be making that trip again.

Hope you feel better soon, Jessy! I just have body aches and a fever instead of a cold, but it has sapped almost all of my energy - and I had made such ambitious plans for the start of the year.

I hope everyone will be able to keep their resolutions!!
