Well there's another problem here too. Since I changed out this new keyboard/mouse, if I click on a link within a post, it won't open it. I've double clicked, right clicked to open in a new window and just regular 1 left click and nothing happens.

What happened?

Is the receiver for the wireless mouse blocked by anything? I have a wireless keyboard and mouse also and if my receiver is blocked by a piece of paper lying across it, my keyboard will not respond and the mouse will not respond. Moved the paper so I could see the lights on the receiver and the keyboard and mouse were working again.

When I started having a problem with the wireless mouse, I just bought a USB optical mouse and used it. I still have the wireless mouse but it is not being used My keyboard is Microsoft brand and the optical mouse is Logitech brand.
So your problem may be that the settings for the mouse may be needed downloaded from the manufacturer's site.

If you are running a regular mouse connected to the computer by a cord (mouse tail), the default drivers in Windows XP will work. However, if your mouse has other than standard features such as extra buttons or a wireless link, then you need to install the software that came with the mouse. If you are using a wireless keyboard (and) mouse combination, I'd expect to install new drivers for these.

Also, make sure that the batteries are good in the wireless device(s). Sometimes the batteries supplied with equipment are poor, have low capacity, and are barely have enough charge to get the system going. These may soon expire. On the average, batteries need to be replaced about every 6 months in wireless mice and keyboards.
