I fell asleep on the keyboard again. You should be OK with just about anything. I was at the logitech site taking a look at the G3. It looks like its Logitech's answer to the Razer Copperhead. I guess with the G3 you have the option of just plugging it in or downloading the drivers. You do have the option of switching back and forth or between 800 and 1600 DPI before you download the drivers...and I'm not quite sure what that means. I don't know if that means you can choose which of the two DPI's you want or if it means you can switch back and forth between them at your leisure if you don't download the drivers. Amazon is selling it at 47.00...we are getting higher in price. There are only three user reviews ... but it looks comfortable to use, and if it is plug in and go...with the option of downloading Setpoint (what you use to program your mouse ... if you want) nothing could be easier. Its a thought.

Howdy. I run AVG,IE7,and Windows XP. They are always updating. When they're doing a lot it causes my computer to conform similar to what you said about yours. Usually their updating is so minimal it's never noticed. But, for instance, this morning they were doing quite a lot on my system. When that happens my mouse doesn't function smoothly and much of my typing takes a second or so to catch up to the screen. It is a little irritating but I know they ususally finish doing their thing in five or ten minutes. Sometimes I just watch their activity by going to Windows Defender - Currently Running Programs - Task Manager (lower right) - All Users (full screen). I also do a Google search on programs that I might wonder about. I suppose one might access it a little easier if they knew how. Regards, Gene

As ravencajun said it's important to answer questions because it makes troubleshooting easier. Based on what you describe - the same problem with two different operating systems that doesn't happen in safe mode with either O/S I'm inclined to think there's a conflict at the hardware level. If you've been around since 8088 days, you remember IRQs and maybe manually adjusting those? - If you are using a PS/2 (round connector, typically green and purple) make sure you have the plugged into the right place. We all make mistakes. - If you are using a USB connection (small rectangular connector), try a different USB port. If you are using any kind of USB hub, make sure the mouse/keyboard is plugged directly into the machine. If you have a USB add-on card, plug the mouse/keyboard cable(s) into a onboard (motherboard) port. Just for grins you can try the opposite too to rule out any port problems. - Check with the manufacturer of the motherboard or computer for an updated BIOS or chipset drivers - If you have any add-on peripheral cards (network, sound, video capture, etc.) trying removing them temporarily or moving them to another slot. - Borrow or buy another mouse/keyboard, preferably one that is wired. While most mass merchants (Best Buy, etc.) get a little expensive for that kind of stuff, computer stores (Micro Center, etc.) usually have really cheap mice/keyboards sitting on the bottom shelf somewhere. You can also try a Mom 'n Pop computer store, they typically have used stuff cheap.
