ok here is the deal on google I just went to my gmail to see if it did it to me and yes that screen came up asking for my mobile number I have never given it and won't if you just go to the bottom of that page and hit save and continue it takes you right to you email you are not forced to fill out your phone number. Just skip it and hit continue. I did and it opened right to my email. They want your cell number as a safety net if someone is trying to hack your account, I give them an alternate email address instead and they contact me that way. Which they did recently when someone was trying to access my account. Plus they put a lock on my gmail till I answered them from my alternate email address. About B&N that is exactly why you keep a copy of all your books on your pc so you are not depending on them. I have a folder on my pc with a copy of all my books, plus I have them on the SD card in my tablet.

it will connect to any wifi wireless network so if you have a wireless router in your home it will connect to it, it also comes with a usb cable so you can connect it directly to your pc if you need to use it to move stuff from the pc to the PDN, it takes a memory card also like the ones used in cameras, you can store a lot of books, pictures, videos etc on the sd card and then insert it into the PDN and use them from the card.(up 32gig size) It is extremely easy to use. If you do not have wireless at home it will use any wireless hotspots like those at libraries and starbucks etc. it does not use a cell phone type connection like the kindle does. You may look at youtube for videos and reviews, keep in mind the ones you see may be from the original version that came out which had some problems, they recalled all of them and put out a new version which is the one I have, it is very responsive and I have not had any problems with it. I think the banquette idea could work! Do you think it woud look okay to have the table (and thus whatever new light fixture we get) no longer centered on the window? Our kitchen doesn't really have space for a peninsula (unless it's a VERY short one -- and we're talking maybe 18" -- so that would be weird). Fun fact: I've heard from our neighbors that our original 1980 kitchens did have a tiny short peninsula there, but all our neighbhors have taken theirs out because it was apparently very weird looking and just closed off the space so much. . I'm reluctant to build cabinetry all along the window wall because then that would push our table forward into the walking path between the kitchen and playroom. I don't want to downsize to a small 4-person table because this is our only eating area. (We don't have a formal dining room.. Someday in the far future we may turn the playroom into a formal dining room and install a kitchen island with seating in the current eating nook, but right now I really love having a playroom/homeschool space separate from our living room and eating area.)

Do you have pictures of the space showing the lighting you do have, IMO you redesign the space at the same time as addressing the lighting for the new space .I need a bit more info but i will give you my opinion on toilet rooms . They are silly since no one should be using the toilet while someone else is in the bathroom and they waste space. The one you show is for sure a poor plan. What is the space at the bottom of the drawing? What is your budget and what do you want to change other than lighting. I rarely use my overhead light in the bedroom except for when I clean
