Here's what I have been busy with (long)

Well I thought I would share with you, some shots of my garden. My garden takes me about a good month to prepare. I have probably over sixty containers. All of them except for six are on a watering system. So once it's planted, I use a slow release fertilizer, and other than deadheading there' not much left to do with it. I must let you know however that I really don't enjoy gardening. I love looking at all the beautiful flowers but really don't enjoy the planting, weeding or deadheading. Since I have gotten my garden to look like this it is really hard to imagine it not. Every year I say I am going to cut back or not do it at all, and every year I usually end up adding on to it.

Wow Shelley you have really been busy! What beautiful flower pots and hanging baskets.
Congratulations for putting together such a beautiful display.

I love the bicycle pot holder and I can imagine how good it must feel to have your own pool right in your back garden.

I know what you mean about deadheading. With my roses it's also an ongoing task but isn't it wonderful to sit back and enjoy looking at your work! Wish I had put our garden on a self watering system too, but heck it's also a good feeling to wander around with a hose and keep in touch with every plant. Other than than we use sprinklers with a timed shutoff.

Shelley, that's amazing. Well worth the amount of work. I do love to garden. What is your watering system? How does it water the pots? I use the hose method, too, but don't have as much as you do.

I your variety of planters and and colorful flowers. Now sit back, relax and enjoy.

Here some pictures of the poor rose bed after I have taken the roses out of this section. In this one you can see the poor wilted shrub rose replanted by the trellis. You can also see some of the roses that I never got around to moving more in the front of the picture. The section to be replanted. Look further down towards the back in this picture and you can see daylily row there in the back. The view of the section to be planted from the other way. I need to do some prunning of the shrubrow that I have planted accross from this rose bed as some of the shrubs have grown much taller than I thought they could. Still, most of the shade come from the branches of my neighbors cutleaf maple that overhang the property. I have spoken to him about trimming the branches back and its on the project list. He wants to have the tree guy come and thin the tree so that more light comes thru underneath on his property and I would pay the guy at the same time to take back those branches hanging over. Pays to get along well with your neighbors. I am still working on the placement of the little roses but am stuck mostly inside today as I have some work that will take a long time that absolutely has to be done today.

Karen, I look forward to photos of your Granddaughter. I'm laughing because when I spoke with the decorator for our new digs, I told her that with 7 grandkids and one DD still breeding, every surface has to be cleanable. She agreed that "for the next ten years there will be puke, spills, etc." I quipped, "then I'll start to leak." :)

I think ponds are a LOT of work, and then to lose so many fish, that is sad. It must take many years to get those fish that big. I don't do ponds, but I do have a lot of flowers and it is so dissapointing when many of them don't survive the winter. If you have a problem with the pond, I hope you get it figured out, and next year should be better. When you get it done, we'd love to see pictures!

Thanks, and I am sorry I did not get to it or at least some of it. It has been hetic around here with DH having test regarding his breathing and heart, flu going around, getting a shot for my back etc. thanks again marie

I agree, that's very impressive, I can't imagine doing all that when you don't even like it.

I don't raise flowers at all, just vegetables, although I love flowers. My vegetable garden is all I can handle.

Oh Shelley, your garden is beautiful. What I love about it is how whimsical it is. And you have so many different little spots to sit and be surrounded by something pretty.

You must do a lot of outdoor entertaining! I am jealous! I love to spend time outside, but I keep avoiding my yard, it is such a disaster. I've got a blight running rampant and it needs lots of TLC that I just haven't been up to lately since it's been so hot. All my flowers are pooping out! But thankfully the herbs are still managing to survive so I have something to enjoy.

Next year if I'm still here I want to plant more flowers like you have! I love how bright everything is!
