Active X problem

I have a new HP laptop, 64 bit pavilion dv6 1245. I have a free upgrade to Windows 7 from the Vista. I have attempted to do this on line and I keep getting a message active X control problem. Should I uninstall Adobe 10 with active X controls and reinstall? If so what site do you recommend?

What browser are you using? Are you using internet explorer to download? If not, try it. Let us know.

I did try to do the online process in Firefox and got the message to use IE so I did. That is when I got the message for active X problem. I don't know anything about active X. Any more thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

MOVE IT if you haven't allready. First improve water conditions (cloudy water, unvaccummed gravel/unless a dense planted tank/ ammonia, nitrite, over 50ppm nitrate unplanted)I recently had a rash of this. I dont do normal gravel vaccums in my moderate to heavy planted (only every 6 months I uproot vaccum half the tank, next week other half then replant. now every 4 months since outbreak). The water quality got bad quicker than normal and I had an algae bloom (lime green water) then NTD killed 5 neons and fancytailed guppy, also an oto cat.When you have isolated it try Nalidixic Acid if you can find some at the pet shop or online. There has been limited sucess with it. Try to bring down pH to 6.5-6.8 if not there allready. By the way it usually looks like a clear spot in the body, sudden loss of color. Post a pic if you can.

You would need to install the active x program for each of those, or any such site. These are small programs specific to the particular web site. Popcap has some very good games if you like those kind of things and they do not throw you out after an hour of usage. My wife is a frequent visitor to Popcap You might find you would enjoy RealArcade, they do throw you out after an hour on each game but it seems there are a huge number of them to choose amongst so you can stay for many hours.

You might try deleting your desktop.htt to the recycle bin. It location is similar... C:\Documents and Settings\mike\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop.htt Think a reboot & windows will build a new one correctly. Apparently yours contains that scripting error. You may have to reconfigure your desktop look again but hopefully it'll stay put.

Have you tried changing your Internet Explorer settings to accept the Active X control? Tools, Internet Options, Security, Custom Level... If you're using another browser check to see if there's a way to accept that particular Active X control. Rita

I went to the HP site for the Windows 7 upgrade.
Since I got the computer there have been a few sites I was unable to view due to active X issue but I didn't care. Now it matters as I do not like Vista and do want the Windows 7.

You might try going to the page where you get the active X issue and then opening IE Tools, Internet Options. Click the 'security' tab and then the 'Safe Sites' icon and putting that page address in the safe sites list.

Maybe also drop the slider there down a notch in security if you continue to have a problem.

Of just pick up the phone and call HP support. They probably hear this all day long.

I did as you suggested and I did get further then as I was going through the steps I reached a point, "to busy to process at this time". I tried 2 more times yesterday and the same thing. Thanks for information.
