Yahoo search box

OK, somehow while I have been reading the posts on this board tonight, catching up on the last few days, I have acquired a Yahoo Search box on the next-to-the-bottom bar, the one that shows the url when you mouse over a link, and also has the Site Advisor on the far right side. I forget the name of the bar. The only way I can think that I got it was when reading the post on Jave, I followed the instrux to check on updating Java through the control panel and Java. Maybe it came in with the update? However, it said I already had the update. Anyway I've tried to get rid of it and can't. Right clicking on the bar doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Janette instead of right clicking on the Yahoo bar try it on the top bar where your File/Edit/View etc are. You should be able to remove the check mark for the Yahoo bar there.

Owbist, thanks for answering. When I right click on that bar, it only has three tool bars checked: Navigation, Bookmarks and Google. There are two that are unchecked: ZoneAlarm Spy Blocker and AVG Security. Actually what is at the bottom is just a search box, not a toolbar. It has a red M in front of the box, and a magnifying glass icon in a red box shows at the end of the box. To the right of that is the McAfee Suite Advisor and the little orange & blue icon that has something to do with IE

I'm using Firefox 3.0.5, XPHome SP3. I'm puzzled. Any other ideas? Maybe it has come to stay.

I usually reset IE back to it's defaults (advanced tab of Internet Options). That's useful if one of the add ins is causing the problem. You can also uninstall all of the updated versions to get back to IE8, in case one of the updates got corrupted. I sometimes see web page display issues when the 64 bit version is used. Windows 7 comes with both the standard 32 bit and the 64 bit IE.

Hmmm... Good question. I have always used the bottom box because I like to be able to search just "this forum". I just did several searches in the upper box, and it seems that the only forums it searches are the gardening ones. Well, that may explain why sometimes people write posts saying that they cannot find "whatever" and then someone else finds it easily. Good to know!

A well-meaning friend has given me what she called a "Wood Duck House". However, the entrance hole is only 2 1/4 inches round, which I believe is too small for a Wood Duck. Inside dimensions are: 21.5 x 5.75 x 7.25 inches, and the hole is located 15.5 inches above the floor. Also, there is no hardware cloth or screening attached inside below the hole for nestlings to climb up. Any ideas about what bird this box might be designed for, or how I could alter this box to make it more attractive to native birds here in Central VA? Thanks in advance.

you likely did an update for Mcafee site advisor and it put the secure search box down there you an easily close that by clicking on the little blue circle with the arrow in it down there next to the green McAfee site advisor and un check the secure search option.
