I'd like to thank Bob for finding the solution to one of Ginny's problems as it was also one of my problems, the part about the search box was very annoying as like Ginny none of the choices were any that I wanted. I also took Terry's advice and changed my Google address. As for my Google history, it has always been blank for some reason but I don't care for that feature anyway.

This kind of technology is going to be great--someday. The lack of focus makes it seems like a bad camera. Just a tweak here and there and it will be great--but not there yet. Well, I can see that I have two things besides the chimney poking out of the roof, but I can't tell what they are. Just a wee bit more focus to the zoom would help!! I sure hope one is the vent stack (we've got a bit of trouble with sewer smell in this old house (new to us) and are trying to trace the source. At least it is hopeful now that the vent pipe is actually piped to the outside).

I know I know - for what I pay for this I really shouldn't complain..but it gets so frustrating. Anyway since you suggested I post my workaround method... sI remembered some of the more unusual words in the post- one of them was needlepoint navy.(scary what trivia my brain retains) So I put "needlepoint navy" in quotes just like that in the google search bar. Then a few possibilities came up, one of which was this. I just tried it now, and it didn't work, but thankfully it worked before. My suggestion is to put in whatever unique definite words you can recall in the google search box and chances are it will bring up a long lost post. hope this helps someone:) Here is a link that might be useful: the long lost post

I've had mostly pleasant Google surprises rather than shocks, when Googling old boyfriends. Overall, it seems their lives turned out not only happy and healthy (so far, knock wood) but pretty much as they planned: English major turned English teacher, journalism major turned journalist, free spirited long-haired beach bum turned, ummm, guy who lives very well although not technically 'employed', on the beach in an Asian country where (at least before legalization) he could more readily access his favorite herb. All three former bf's still married to their original wives, even. Regarding old friends and roommates I'd lost track of...I've had some surprises there as well. A roommate I thought would marry the rabbinical scholar her parents would find for her, I found married to someone who could not be farther from it--literally, could never have imagined the match she made and I would love to know (though would never ask) how they came to be together. A classmate who I did not appreciate much but who was part of a group of friends I belonged to in college is a well-regarded writer with a home featured in the NYT for its style. Another classmate was featured in the NYT Vows section, and I started to wonder whether I was the only one from the rural midwest who didn't move to NYC and live with such flair! I've never even been in the local paper. And, oh, the prettiest girl in my high school is still the prettiest. And the very handsome boy I had a perpetual crush on but who couldn't have picked me out of a lineup is still extremely (I mean really!) good looking but his politics are so out of line with mine I can't really regret not making his cut.
