Missing half of Google search box

What causes this. I have scanned for viruses and malware.
I have searched and searched and searched and searched.

HP Pavilion dv5, Windows 7 Premium 64bit
It only does this in Internet Explorer, Firefox is fine.

Perhaps it's a problem with the rendering of the browser. Or something else. Maybe reducing the size of the image on the screen could make a difference but maybe not.

Think of it as something to ignore. (Reason #135 to not use Internet Explorer when there's a choice)

The laptop's owner picked it up today. I couldn't fix the problem.
I do believe I have convinced him to switch to Firefox.

This kind of technology is going to be great--someday. The lack of focus makes it seems like a bad camera. Just a tweak here and there and it will be great--but not there yet. Well, I can see that I have two things besides the chimney poking out of the roof, but I can't tell what they are. Just a wee bit more focus to the zoom would help!! I sure hope one is the vent stack (we've got a bit of trouble with sewer smell in this old house (new to us) and are trying to trace the source. At least it is hopeful now that the vent pipe is actually piped to the outside).

Thanks Lukki! I have eighteen other things I need to be doing this morning, but I've been looking at the fixtureuniverse site...now that's alot of soap holders! The one below MIGHT be a possibility. I could get a towel with a loop like Lyban's and hook it over that ball thing at the top. That might work, huh? Darn thing is pretty pricey, though.....oh well, this funny little half bath may end up being the most expensive per inch of any around. And to think I could have gotten the PB soap holder for maybe twenty bucks with shipping. Gonna go kick myself again now. After I do my eighteen things and get over kicking myself, I'm gonna look for the wall hung bottle type holders, too. This could become a full time job! I've tried these toolbars years ago but never saw the attraction. I like maximum space visible and having a bunch of toolbars blocks the view. What am I missing on these things? For search (with Opera), I just enter g then the search term and hit enter, or on a new page there's also a search box. For frequented sites, I use links on my homepage and I use Yahoo Instant Messenger and Trillian that monitor my mail accounts. I only have one toolbar exposed at the top and I customized it with the buttons most popular for me and I have the scrollbar at the bottom so I get a nice big screenview. I guess I'm either missing something or.... well anyway, I don't get it.

I'm an old timer too. Started right in the beginning, don't remember the year. I was a New Yorker then and saw an article in the NY Times about a new website called Garden Web. Spike was in charge (Yikes, did he give me a few tours of Disney). Topics were hot back then. Lots of posters. Lots of arguments. Being a New Yorker, I was a orchid grower, organic gardener, many outdoor garden beds both flower and vegetables. I miss Gary so much. He always posted on Orchids. I often wonder about him and how he is doing. There were so many people who disappeared on Orchids and Organic Gardening. Having moved to Florida 5 years ago, I discovered the Florida Gardening site and enjoy trying to learn the ins and outs of hot weather, buggy gardening while maintaining my organic style. Tricky! I miss the old posters. So many are gone. I made wonderful friends and met many people through Garden Web. I do see the membership declining and the activity on many of their sites almost absent. Its a shame. There is so much to be learned from gardeners in the area you live. Can't get that from a book! Jane

What version of internet explorer? Could an IE repair be done to see if that fixes it? I have only used IE since windows 98. It's what I like and have never seen that happen. Mary

I usually reset IE back to it's defaults (advanced tab of Internet Options). That's useful if one of the add ins is causing the problem. You can also uninstall all of the updated versions to get back to IE8, in case one of the updates got corrupted.

I sometimes see web page display issues when the 64 bit version is used. Windows 7 comes with both the standard 32 bit and the 64 bit IE.

I've run into this problem using Firefox. Sometimes when I try to upload pictures to a site or buy something, part of the box is below the bottom of the screen and I can't access the 'submit' button or 'checkout button.' Those boxes can't be dragged up. Sometime part of it is off to the right of the screen. Same problem, the screens can't be dragged.
