Carol it looks lovely and I think that's a super way to show off old family recipes ! You did a good job.

Makes me want to start scrounging around in my notebooks for those tucked away handwritten folded recipe pages given to me by my old aunts who have passed on.

What a great idea! My DH frames up old old postcards from the city we live in. He finds them on e-bay?! Anyway, they are way cool and distressed looking, like your recipes.

Thanks so much for the good words! It's still a work in progress but I am pretty excited over it! The recipes are for Challah bread and "Mondel Brod" and the mandelbread recipe has measurements for a "glass" of flour and glass of oil but cups of sugar. I think originally it could have been my bubbe's (my great-grandma) recipe with the "glass" but my grandma added the cups!

That is so pretty. I have been in a glass artist's studio once and it was fascinating to watch her work.

I had a similar project going a while back and wanted to find a way to display a nice photo of my dad when he was about David's age. There was lots of handwriting on the back - basically my grandmother writing how excited my dad would get when he saw my GF come home from work. I wanted to display it because I knew later on in life my dad and his father were sort of at odds, and it was very touching to read. I found one of those glass frames where you can see the back of the picture, so now I can read it on the other side of the frame.

Carol, I really like what you did, it's very nice. I also like your pile of cookbooks nearby...works for me!

Carol, I love the frame you made. It is so perfect, enough embellishments that it adds to the recipe but not enough that it takes over. I am jealous that you have those recipes. What a wonderful addition to your kitchen. I love the other piece of artwork in your kitchen as well.

That is a great idea and your finished piece is incredible. Wish I had the ability to follow through on something like that. I love the couple recipes of my Grandma's i have in her handwriting. What an heirloom you have created!

Nancy, I'm running out of places to put all the cookbooks so i find places to stack them. The little table my son made for me in camp and that percolator belonged to my grandmother!

Granjan, I don't have a problem finishing a project, it's the starting, LOL, I'm big on procrastinating. I keep saying I'll do it next week! Then once I start, I have to finish!

I figured out my next project, but I'm not going to start it yet. We have to gut and re-do the master bathroom, so my big idea was to make the windows stained glass so I won't need those blinds. The contractor says they will start the bathroom sometime in March when everything I ordered comes in (hopefully!) I want the bathroom finished before I decide what glass or colors to use.

What a cool idea! I love the swirly bits around the rocks!
