Woo hoo!! I received my swap box from Arabella Miller today!! Funny how things work out, today was a downer for me and this package was a great thing to pick me up...

Am's theme was Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows...she read that I'm a confirmed pyromaniac that loves playing with fire...in more ways than one..LOL!

To start things out she sent me this cool battery operated marshmallow toaster. It does three at a time. I'm good to go as some of the packing material was marshmallows...LOL! I'm betting Cathy doesn't have this gadget YET!

What goes better with marshmallows, toasted or not. Why some good hot chocolate of coures. She also included some great mugs from the CIA where she has taken several cooking classes. Like she mentioned in her note, anything with the CIA logo will make you look like a pro...now I just have to find that special someone to impress...don't hold your breath on that one..LOL!

Next is a great wooden spoon also from the CIA. I've come to appreciate quality wooden spoons thanks to the swaps and some I've purchased myself. Yes, they are hand washed and don't take a ride through the DW. I'm one who puts everything in the DW so this little gem will be well used and cared for.

Thanks AM!! You were very creative coming up with this theme and box with me liking to play around with/by a fire. I'm hosting a dinner for my DN next weekend and we will break in this cool gadget for sure. Winter has set in here and I've had my fireplace on a couple of times already. Hey, the 30's and 40's is cold to this wimp and the rest of my group. Dont' LOL to hard y'all that are farther north! I wonder what EJ would do with this....the kitchen or the night stand...LOL! Thanks again for a great swap box! Oh, Lucy sends a big ole Dane kiss to your Lucy!!

The marshmallow roaster is great! Of course, I'd have to be the one to build the fire if I were going to use it. If my dh builds the fire you can't stand within three feet much less hold a relatively short plastic handled object anywhere near it. :) Enjoy all your goodies and impress the heck out of your friends with your CIA gear!

I think that is what he meant - You asked Can yall take a look at my pics and tell me what I should do to break these clumps up So where are the pics we are supposed to take a look at? ;) Otherwise it isn't clear why the post about looking at the pics if the pics aren't there? Plus it really is a discussion for the Soil forum or maybe the Vegetable Gardening forum since it isn't really a "tomato" question. See what I mean? As to clods and clumps - part of the problem is the time of year - dry and hard soil vs. normal digging time in early spring or late fall. Part of it is your soil and only elbow grease will solve that - well elbow grease and a pick axe. I sometimes have good luck stockpiling the worst clods in a corner somewhere and soaking the pile well with water to soften it up and then takes the tools to it now and then until it finally breaks down. Might also consider that making a raised bed might be a whole lot easier for you to do. Dave

Jakabedy, I have been doing the same thing! We have a contract on our home (not sure itÃ¢ÂÂs going though). There is this little house; it is a mess, such a mess itÃ¢ÂÂs nearly a tear down with plumbing issues and all. I donÃ¢ÂÂt know why I keep looking at it. The house is smaller than I want and it has a one car garage that used to be a carport (I hate one car garages). ItÃ¢ÂÂs listed as being built in 1951 but I think itÃ¢ÂÂs a typo and should read 1961. There were no structures of any sort in that area in Ã¢ÂÂ51. I have picked out the front door, redesigned the garage with a side entry, changed the windows back to what they should be, and halfway designed the kitchen with slab doors, explored terrazzo tile and other flooring options. I also added on in the back and found a cute octagonal tiki bar for the other side of the pool. The little neighborhood is in a great location but a bit dicey for investing too much money at this time, although every fifth house or so has done extensive updating to the point of eliminating any sign of the original modest retro house. Waaaaa I want to save it! I keep thinking if I save it others may follow.

A little bit of beige may not be bad. Yellow reflects on itself and gets more intense. Whatever you think your final choice is, be sure to paint ALL of your old cabinets with it before you order. I love the fact that it's so hard to pick colors but the world conspires to make it even harder. The Aura fan deck is impossible to use if you want to see two colors next to each other, and you can't hang it vertically on a wall (all colors are darker that way). The paint store will always present you with an "issue" or "problem" that prevents you from getting the samples you need, and they make it too expensive anyway. Chips will either fall of the wall because you used painters tape, or rip off the paint because you didn't. It is making me insane and I would happily hire someone to do this just to avoid the insanity. My neighbors' kids and their friends have been setting off little snapper firecrackers all day. I keep hoping.

Lav: It's just that fridge and big sink on that wall seem to eat up all the countertop. Plus, the fridge needs like, 4" minimum clearance against a fixed wall... I wish that wall were a little longer cause I'd love to have the fridge to the left of the sink like that. I always seem to want to prep to the left of the sink. I don't know if I can change that habit, can I? I get having a prep sink closer to the stove, but this copper sink is made for prep with the cutting board that sits on the ledge and the drain tray. Not to mention that after what that thing cost, DH will probably throw up if I mention getting another sink, lol. Bellsmom: I was told that having the whole wall open is a problem with structural stuff. That's why DH wants a rustic railing with upright beams in part of the opening. I can't tell exactly but the island makes the walk around about 30"... seems too close to the step down for safety? Rosie: Your words are food for thought. I am definitely a sink/window prepper. I tend to live in front of the sink for some reason. Don't really see myself doing too much between the fridge and stove (in the original layout) And, as I said above, I tend to want to work to the left of the sink. Angie's idea is very appealing though. I like the smaller area to cook in and less walking around. I like the fridge out of the main area, so anyone can get something without, 'excuse me'. The one thing DH does is make adult beverages (killer old fashioneds for those familiar with Wisconsinites) and we're always in each others way when that happens. I thought a bar sink over by the window could double as a kind of prep sink and I'd have mondo storage over there, too. But, it does close up the room somewhat, at least for traffic, but maybe not in a bad way. Idaho: thanks for the info and I was kinda thinking that empty corner could be a safe cubby or something like that. Keep our Cracken in there, lol. Marcolo: are you saying to leave the fridge as it is in Angies plan? I'll have to play around with that configuration, too. Thank you...

I saw that marshmallow tool for David before I saw the box and what I was thinking would make even a hardened sailor (no pun intended) blush.

I'm so glad you like it!! Swaps can be tough if you're the type to overthink everything....

I hope the marshmallow gadget is as fun to use as it looks. My sister just sent me a wonderful wooden spoon, otherwise I would have had a hard time letting that one go!

Very cool theme AM. Love the marshmallow toaster. David you'll be able to make s'mores to go with your hot chocolate. Nice mugs, but I really like the wooden spoon. Great package, that will get lots of use over the winter months!

Chris got us one of those marshmallow thingies for the cottage...actually he got it for himself but...anyhow they area hoot and the "kids" love it!

That spoon is seriously gorgeous!

David if you're feeling blue, just take one of my plastic tumblers, fill it with your favorite alcohol, go sit outside and roast some marshmallows by moonlight - then clink to your CF pals!

Oh boy, I just love that spoon. the marshmallow toaster, though, now that's original, I've never seen one like that. Battery powered gadgets, yup, that has to be good. (OK, Jessica, your turn!)

Have a cup of cocoa for me, David, and if you have a bad day, call one of us, we'll cheer ya' right up!

Yep - I absolutely LOVE the theme of your swap goodies David!! AM, that was pure genius! Hot chocolate with marshmallows is pretty high on the cheering up scale, I hope it worked really well for you:-) Good, sturdy wooden spoons are hard to come by and that one looks like it's a winner. And you were a good cook even before you received the CIA mugs, but now they will make you look like a Food Network chef! Enjoy it all David, and let us know what you REALLY end up doing with the battery operated marshmallow toaster!!!

David, can I come sit by your fire?! I love what I used to call meesimonies (Don't ask me why...) - especially double roasted!! in fact, DM used "meesimonies" to bribe me away from my last bottle - so goes some of the bizzo-related folklore.

Gina, too darned cold for me to be sitting outside as of late. Trust me, we clinked more than once over the summer with those tumblers. They came in handy for all of the little kids I've had visiting too...they loved picking their own color out.
