Here is a free program that may do what you want. I use it to help other people who have a question about doing something on their computer. I can run their computer from mine.

Smitty from what I read about Teamviewer the free version disconnects after 5 minutes. Is that your experience or do you have the paid version?

I use Crossloop, totally free and I was on my sister's computer for 2 hours today without being dropped.

Not sure if Crossloop could be useful for Jane as the there needs to be a warm body at the computer being accessed to physically pass on the randomly generated access code and then click to agree to the connection. This is obviously a security issue, and a good one but unless somebody is still home to help her when she attempts the hookup from work it will not be any use.

Brother used to live in a hospital basement, moving files from this computer to that. Now he's got his own office! He's been there forever as a IT manager titled with ever changing oddball names.

Anyhow, they evaluate all programs before allowing them. Security reasons of course are important in hospitals, efficiency's, friendliness, etc. get hands on testing too because the employee training is so costly.

'PC Anywhere' is what they use.

Teamviewer does not disconnect after 5 minutes. I have been connected to a friend's computer for an hour. And it is the free version.

Thanks all, what I need is the ability to access my work computer from home. I have the same billing and scheduling software on both machines. Right now I use a flash drive to carry the data back and forth to keep both machines updated. If I don't go into work, it creates problems because nothing can be entered at work. I am the only person who handles the work. I'd like the ability to enter appointments and claims from home when I can't go in.

I heard a commercial about "Go to My PC" and took a look at their website. It states that you can access your computer from any other computer. It says that it is secure and you don't need to be at the other computer. My guess is it acts like a Server, except it is on the Internet.

I am not knowledgeable about such things, just thought it sounded like something which could be really helpful. Because no one has heard of it, I don't think I will take the chance.
