Question about face book on a different computer

My computer is still not fixed. If the computer guy does not respond in the next few days, hubby will try to fix it. Updating to Windows 7 from XP and adding Office 2007 + getting AVAST back etc.

But my questiion is if I want Face Book, can I put it on a laptop, and with different ID name, etc to keep anyone from finding out informatiion from my desk top which has my on line banking and credit card information?

Hope this is clear.

Anything that is on your computer is likely available to any computer guy working on it regardless of Facebook. That's why I never store anything critical like banking info directly on my computer. It's not clear to me why Facebook being on the computer would change anything. Maybe I'm missing the point you are trying to make, but can you amplify, please?

I am sorry, what I mean is to leave my desktop computer alone and put Facebook on a laptop computer. Talking about 2 different (seperate) computers.

Hi RC,I've followed this thread from beginning to end and understand what is posted here. What I need to know now is where is this snapshot of the os image stored for future use? Surely it's burned to a dvd,a secondary hd or an external hd, etc. Am I on track so far? Somewhere in the future the original hd crashes, malfunctions or just quits. Do I then physically remove it, set the secondary hd on which exists the snap shot, to primary function, if this be my chosen media, and boot up? If I had chosen to go the dvd route, do I replace the old hd with a new one and use the dvd to install the snap shot image? And in case of an external hd, can it's content incuding the snapshot image be copied over to the new hd? I realize we're covering a lot of ground here and I beg your patience. Please keep it simple as possible. I'd like to get this issue staight in my mind one time. I also understand this can only be done with the original computer the os was installed on. Thanks.

I've seen the Undecorate Book at my library. Very nice. I asked my library to order both of Robyn Griggs Lawrence's Wabi Sabi books. I think you would enjoy anything written about that. laticauda(OK - zone 7) I think I read somewhere that to make a room have clean air (not just cleaner air) it takes like 15-20 6-inch potted plants. For one room. mtvhike, don't you first want to ask how much data storage he's using and what kind of files they are? So I'll ask - big al, what kind of files do you have and how much space is being used in total? A file is a file is a file as far as a Windows version is concerned. File compatibility can be in issue with different versions of a program/application, but not with different versions within the same operating system family. And sometimes not between families either. I'm not a fan of having more than one internal drive, unless the extra space is needed for apps using very large files frequently accessed. That's true for few people. You're really better off having backups files disconnected and offline and not on the PC you're using ( to be safe from power surges) and with extra files on cheap external drives easily replaced.

I understood that you were talking about two separate computers. I still don't understand what Facebook has to do with your banking info whatever computer it's installed on. Or why having another ID name would do anything. So...can you take another run at this?

I have to say that I don't quite understand what you're asking. Facebook is a website and you can access it like any other website. I don't think there's anything to "put on" a computer; simply type in your user name and password. You should be able to access it with any computer connected to the internet.

I think what she means is should she change all of her user names and passwords for FaceBook etc. so no one can get into her information from her other computer. If so, this is why I NEVER mark any box that says "Keep Me Logged In" or "Remember Me on this Computer"!! I only use web based mail and always double check to make sure all boxes are unmarked when I login at any website!!!

I would definately change all my passwords before having that computer worked on and make sure you write down the new passwords and put them somewhere safe, but NEVER on the computer.

I don't understand what facebook might have to do with anyone's banking or credit cards.

Sorry, I just got my computer up and running again. Hubby worked hard to do so. Deceided to not do face book.
