I have this program installed now, where do I run it, and how to get it started? I have clicked and clicked, it just keeps installing, and I surely am doing something wrong.
You must be clicking on the file that you downloaded. When that file has been run once and has installed the programme it can safely be deleted because you will never need to run it again. (You download the latest version and then start over.)
The actual CCleaner programme will be in your programs folder when you click the Start button.
CCleaner also creates a round red shortcut icon on your desktop unless you unckeck the option when it is installing. It is quite likely that this is what you have been doing because you will have read on here that it is best to uncheck the toolbar that CCleaner also tries to load.
So if you prefer to use the desktop shortcut install CCleaner again but only uncheck the toolbar option.
Never mind the 'inpet senior' Shaddy, you are doing just fine and you have come a long way in the last few months.Keep asking questions till you are satisfied.
Regarding running Ccleaner, just click on the link DA has provided. Now look at the capital C with the paint brush across it. You should have that same icon on your desktop if you did a straight install. Close the link now. If you have the icon on your desktop double click on it and a new window appears. Look in the bottom right corner and click where it says 'Run Cleaner'. There is nothing else to do until it finishes then you just close the program.
You may also have an icon on the Quicklaunch bar near the Start button if you have the Quicklaunch bar enabled.
When you run Ccleaner you will lose all your cookies as the program is designed to do. However if you remain logged in at sites like this one that can be annoying. You can stop that easily. Here's how.
Open Ccleaner Click Options on the left side Click the Cookies box Now you have a list of Cookies to delete. Look down the list carefully and find any you do not want removed, like 'gardenweb' Click on one to highlight it Then click the right facing arrow to send it to the 'Cookies to keep' window Repeat as needed. Done.
