Colorado arrives with the storm !

Just a quick note to Blueiris24 to let you know it arrived ( & I LOVE it all!)-- couldn't find your email to let you know all intact/unbrken etc. And a quick Thank You.

I've got just a bit of time here between nasty storms & being on dial up , need to get off before my modem gets blown, again-- will post more later when storms pass .

STORMS?????????????? I can't believe it. It's 110 degrees here in British Columbia Canada. Were all dieing from the heat!!! Diana55 P.S... I hope it blows by quickly for you!!!

Thunderstorms have finally passed ( I hope)-- & tho we need rain very badly and some relief from the heat ( was 86 when first storm hit-- in 20 minutes we got 7/10 inch of rain & temp dropped to 66)-- and our phone lines are weird , anytime there's the least bit of lightening within 10 miles I have to unplug the phone line to computer-- last year I had a modem blow when the computer wasn't even on !

Erin certainly did her homework before packing up my fabulous swap package ! Every single thing is perfectly ME !

First thing I unwrapped was a Tea for One set
, Erin & her Mom went on a Celestial Seasonings tour and she picked this up-- now I collect teapots but don't have anything close to this nifty pot & mug
& can't wait to try the teas--gosh there's even a Bath Tea .

Second item is a cookbook
, and with just a quick browse I found some real interesting recipes: slow cooker Black Bean & Mushroom Chili, Eggplant Couscous Rolls , Chocolate Graham Cracker Crumbs Muffins , Blueberry Danish made with a cottage cheese dough & a sub for Hollandaise sauce= Light Lemon Sauce with Herbs. Gosh Erin I can see this is going to become a favorite cookbook !

And third, a set of Luncheon plates-- Erin you matched my kitchen colors perfectly-- I just love earthen shades. These are from the Galaxy collection , pattern is La Dolce Vita -- I'll get alot of use from these luncheon plates

Take the time to learn that there is not a "cure all" for every pest at every stage of it's life cycle. Some won't work if it's going to rain. How big of a root ball and was it intact or broken? A short conifer such as this should not have taken a tilt in high wind if the root ball was substantial enough to anchor it in the ground. The needle drop is from stress and probably not enough root mass to support topside foliage. I see browning out midway up the plant which is not a good thing. There is a good chance this plant won't be a survivor. A good rule of thumb is never by plants that have been sitting around all Summer especially if root B&B. It was probably dead when you planted it. Buy early ,March/April, when planting B&B. Save your warrantry and replace next Spring. Dave

The cold air coming down from Canada will not be ultra-cold. Not this year. We should see maybe a week-ish of relatively cooler weather and two, maybe three noticeably cold nights, and not all in a row, but a killing deep freeze? Depends where you are and how you pushed it, but one night of well below freezing shouldn't be wrecking your plans. The 'cold' will start this evening, but 'cold' is relative. I went out last evening and put the ornamental grass clippings over about 6-8 of the less tender plants and held it down with heavier branches from pruning. That's all this old weatherman is doing SE of Denver. I expect that next week I'll be planting cool season seeds in the garden - I have a new variety of lettuce mix - Red Wings - in anticipation of their long playoff run and I'm ready to go. The wall-o-waters are coming out sometime in early April, when I find time in between traveling. :o) Dan

The weekly storm has arrived

Beautiful scene tonight at 1 a.m. north of Chicago. A nearly full moon is reflecting off a sparkling inch-plus of snow. Lurking under that snow is treacherous ICE. I was able to get DH to the hospital at 8:30 yesterday morning before it got fierce here. He's been admitted for treatment of low sodium levels (121 for you medical folks). He's had X-rays and CT scans so far. I hope that staff is allowing him to get up and walk to relieve his severe muscle spasms. "Monoclonus" seems to be the right term for these violent spasms in his thighs that occur as much as every ten seconds when he's lying down and last for hours. This started in September. His primary finally got him admitted, or we'd still be looking at appointments for tests months from now.

La Dolce Vita.... ah, the sweet life!

Neat plates, and the recipes sound great. My sister has a little mug-n-brew like that at work, and really enjoys it.

I seen the teapot/mug before but not with the niffy strainer for loose tea...how very cool!

There is something about square plates that is so appealing! I really like the colors of the plates, so simple but dramatic too.

I have a little strainer kind of like that that fits on a mug and I LOVE it, Diane, I know you'll love yours, it's wonderful for loose tea. The "Fast Lane" tea made me smile too.

That Eating Well cookbook is perfect for you and Doc, I think. I really like Eating Well's recipes, so I'm looking forward to some posts from that.

Pictures of those recipes would be good too, LOL, on those cute little plates....

enjoy all your goodies. i have a similiar type tea set which always travels with me, especially when i'm staying in hotels. i'm a die-hard tea drinker and there's nothing worse than tea water being heated up in those hotel coffee pots - totally destroys the taste.

great package, enjoy it all!

Diane, I can vouch for the cookbook. Tasty, wonderful and healthy recipes inside! The plates are lovely and the tea set is perfect for a tea drinker! Great package, Erin!!!

Yum, chocolate graham cracker muffins sound good to me and I hope you'll share that recipe.

It's perfect - make the muffins, put them on a plate, make a cup of tea, sit back, relax, sip and munch and read the rest of the cookbook.

Michelle I'm a sucker for square plates too. Marigene sent me some and I use them all the time.

That book is in my library and I'm grabbing it! Eggplant and couscous rolls...perfect for my vegetarian friends. Might try that with quinoa.

Perfect package for our good friend Diane! I know she loves her tea and those plates are very cool and unique. I'm sure recipes from the cookbook will be put to good use....I know for sure I could use a few of them. Great package Erin!
