LOOKING for: Bake n fill cake pan recipes
Comments (2)Perfect for fall and my boyfriend LOVED this one 1 boxed spice cake mix 1 can easy pumpkin pie filling (15 oz) I had to get a 30 oz can and use half maybe you'll have better luck finding a small can 1/4 cup milk It's that easy...mix them all together and bake. Let cool in freezer for about an hour. Fill with (softened) vanilla ice cream (i like old fashoned but it's according to preference). Ice with cream cheese icing. I've made 2 of these in the past month they're hard to keep around :) hope you enjoy it as much as we did!...See MoreFreezing Milk...ever added baking soda?
Comments (5)I'd just freeze it, too. Other things that can cause milk to sour quickly: - NOT placing refrigerated milk in the coldest place in the refrigerator. The door is generally NOT the coldest place and is the one place that's exposed to warm room temperature air each time the door is opened. - Having your refrigerator warmer than 40°F to begin with will cause the milk to degrade quicker. - Taking the milk out of the refrigerator and leaving it on the counter/table for long periods of time while in use will cause it to degrade quickly. Even more damaging is doing this day after day... - Yes, the soda reduces the acidity and slows down spoilage, but so do other proper handling techniques. - Defrost the milk quickly SUBMERGED (not floating on top) in a pan of COLD water, or overnight (or longer) in the refrigerator. Never thaw it sitting at room temperature on the counter. - The liquid portion of the milk thaws quicker than the fat portion and causes some separation - a quick shake usually takes care of that, but spoiling isn't cause by the separation, so no soda needed for freezer storage as far as I can see. - If you are purchasing gallons, you may find 1/2-gallons or quarts containers work better for freezing/thawing. They won't take as long to freeze, nor as long to thaw. -Grainlady...See More'Will you bake my mom's wedding cake?'
Comments (37)I know that but it's no fun to see her drag her kids into it. I'd love to grab her, shake her or pound her head against a wall and yell "look what you are doing to your kids!!" " Don't you care????" and I know that I can't. Her relationship with her kids is her business but it doesn't make it any easier to watch. If she had called me, that's one thing. But, she involves SD by asking me through her daughter and she does that a lot. She's also got SD very excited about the wedding and SD brings it up frequently. I could be wrong, but I believe she has created a fantasy in SD's mind that everything will be wonderful when she marries BF... they'll be a family & she can go live there with them, etc. but that isn't going to happen. The craziest part of all, she HATES when SD and I get along. (more insecurity about that) but the more she ignores SD, as time goes on, SD turns to me more & more. I not only spend more time with SD, but I talk to her, I listen to her and even though she has an attitude with me, she knows she can count on me when she needs me. As she is realizing that, she has less attitude with me and we are actually becoming closer because of the way BM treats her. That only upsets BM even more, but instead of giving SD more attention, she has chosen to give less time & attention. It's really sad all the way around. I've also noticed other things she does to mimic our (DH & me) life. We ride ATV's, she went out & bought new ATV's for everyone last Christmas. We went to San Francisco for a weekend, she was going to do the same. We have an SUV, she went out and bought an SUV as soon as she moved there, even though her BF has a mini van that would accommodate all of them. She already had a new truck that her mom repossessed a few weeks ago. We've gone on a few cruises & now she's talked of wanting to take a family cruise. It's really humorous at times. She has no job, her BF's motorcycle & his kids dirt bikes were repossessed, her mom took back the truck she signed for because BM wasn't making the payments, they are about to be evicted & she can't or won't pay the $216 a month in support or any of the medical bills, but she is planning a grand wedding & all these trips. I think it's all in her head & she wants to create an illusion that she has a perfectly wonderful life. I'm not sure if she sees reality slapping her in the face... or if she just pretends it isn't happening. It will go away?...See MoreCake baking, then and now
Comments (13)Did you add this to your blog? Hope so. Do enjoy and remembering some of my experiences with my grandparents. AND my mother in law. Right after we got married, 60 years ago, my MIL wanted to bake me a Angel Food Cake. She did not have the eggs, but she had a box. The box contained 2 packets and instructions.. MIL had baked cakes for years and did not need instructions. She just mixed both packages together and beat, and beat, and beat. She started to get up set because it would not form peaks. THEN she read the instructions. One was egg whites, and one was cake mix. She was so upset. But she poured everything into a pan. After cooking for awhile, she took it out. The cake didn't taste too bad, but the jelly mixture under the cake did not taste good at all. We laughed over that for years. The next one came from the bakery but she was a good cook....See Morecaflowerluver
