Email Address Problem

I have been emailing a relative at her same email address for years. Suddenly, now, for some reason my email program crashes....says its stopped working whenever I try to send her an email. The computer won't let me add her email address to my address book....it was always on there before. It has been rejected I suppose. All my other email recipients receive email without any problems. I can't understand why its just one email address. I have Windows 7 and use the incredimail email program. Any ideas how to fix this problem?

Yes! Get rid of Incredimail! Nothing personal but that is a very trustworthy program and the owners claim the rights to everything that you send via email using their program. Not many people read the EULA (End User License Agreement), and don't realize that if you are using Incredimail to send emails with new ideas/concepts etc., then Incredimail can claim copyright to your ideas etc. because you assigned them the copyrights when you agreed to use the program by clicking on "I Agree" when you installed it.

Many of experts consider it Spyware as well. Yes, IncrediMail provides amusing, all-singing, all dancing, animated, colored, formatted, flashing, bleeping, blurping emails--- but with the certainty of tons of excess baggage riding along with the email; with the possibility of opening the door to malicious HTML-borne worms, viruses, and such; and with serious questions about who owns the content of the messages you send using their system.

Others may have a more positive solution for you.

Thank you for your response, Bbbluz. Yes, I have thought of getting rid of incredimail. I've had other problems in the past.....like it won't uninstall. I still just wonder about the problem of the email address being rejected. It's not like my relative would have anything that should be blocked....she is 81 years old.

If you are using outlook express, and have that much mail build up that it is causing problems at your server end, you can change the setting. Just uncheck leave copy of email on server. That way, once it comes into one computer, it wont come in to the other, and it will only be on your pc, not the server. To do this, open outlook express, go to tools, and accounts. Click on the Mail tab, highlight YourAccount and click on the Properties button. Click on the Advanced tab. In the delivery section, uncheck leave copy of messages on server. Unless you really want another email address, this will take care of the problem so you dont have to change it. Good Luck

I don't know anyone who supplies there real info to web based email accounts. Why would anyone do that?? What ever info you enter should be written down and saved somewhere though. If you should ever forget your password or your account gets hijacked they will ask you for you "information". After all they can't just send out passwords for accounts to just anybody who asks for it claiming to be the owner of said account. I learned this the hard way with my Yahoo account. They needed to know my birthday in order to retrieve my password for me and how the heck would I remember what I had put down when I signed up? Good-bye Yahoo email account. Some email services ask for your referrer email account too so take note of that also.

Yes, it's spam and it's called spoofing as mentioned. While it's not technically "dangerous" to open them, you could be asking for more spam by opening it. Often they'll put in a little code to tell if you've opened it and that verifies the email address. A verified email address is worth much more than an unverified one in the spamming world. Not unlike a known telephone number is worth more to a telemarketer. When you get this stuff, delete it, or pay the price. OJ, sometimes people will do the right thing and use BCC when they send mail to multiple people. They usually put their own address in the "To" field and "BCC" the others so addresses will be hidden. It's the right thing to do. Now that doesn't mean that it's *not* spam though! :) People who send to everyone in their address book and not BCC, and also the people who just forward hoaxes and other junk should have their computers confiscated.

I agree I would definitely try another email client. I do consider it spyware. Some people just refuse to get rid of it though.

If you use another email client and it still happens let us know.
