Why not go the email site on your PC, and just delete them from there

Are you using something like Outlook for the emails to download to your laptop? If so, just delete that address from Outlook so you won't have the problem in the future.

I can't download the emails..I will exceed my download limit from Hughes. Is there a way I can go in and delete them without downloading them?

In your initial post you refer to Outlook Express. To stop mail coming in open OE, click Tools, click Options and on the General tab remove the necessary check marks.

If it is Outlook as you note in another post then click Tools, Options, Mail setup and click the 'Send/Receive....' button to open a new window and adjust those check marks to your liking.

I've never used Outlook Express but is there a 'tools' button you can click and get a drop down menu? Is there an 'account settings' choice on that menu? If so you should be able to delete the account or edit it there.

You simply set up a new or existing email account on that computer and set that to default and all your problems are solved. The other account stays there dormant but always available should the other computer fail at any time.

I would never get an email account through an Internet Service Provider because of not always having had the same provider all these years. I never have to email everyone letting them know of a new address and ask that they delete an obsolete one.

I agree I never use any thing other than a web based email any more, that way no matter where I am or what pc I am on I just have to use the browser to go to the website and view my email.
I use hotmail, and gmx I like both, I do have a gmail account also and one on yahoo but never use those, just have them for extras.

My experience with email accounts tells me the online email accounts are less trouble. Easy to set up and maintain.

I don't need tech help very often, when I do it is usually the on board email account. Not OE or windows live email, it is with my cable server accounts. The last time I had a problem, the tech walked me through every step of the set up and it still did not work. Finally he said, delete all the info for the log in and re type it, it worked then. In spite of the problems I have with it, I still rather have it on board. Less cluttered, with stuff I don't use.

To change or delete an e-mail address in Outlook Express:

Open Outlook Express. Click "Tools" at the very top and in the drop down list click "Accounts". This will open your OE e-mail accounts. Simply highlight the account you wish to delete and click on the "Remove" button.

To add a new account, do the same thing except that where the accounts are listed, you will see "Add account" as a choice. Click on this and proceed to add your new account.

If you are using outlook express, and have that much mail build up that it is causing problems at your server end, you can change the setting. Just uncheck leave copy of email on server. That way, once it comes into one computer, it wont come in to the other, and it will only be on your pc, not the server.

To do this, open outlook express, go to tools, and accounts.

Click on the Mail tab, highlight YourAccount and click on the Properties button.

Click on the Advanced tab.

In the delivery section, uncheck leave copy of messages on server.

Unless you really want another email address, this will take care of the problem so you dont have to change it.
