If both yourself and the client has Win2K or XP - and probably Vista?? - then you could easily send it if you install something like Skype.

Skype is VOIP where you talk in real time for free over the net computer to computer or for a modest fee computer to landline or cellphones. The speed seems to depend on the traffic regarding file transfers, I recently sent many 3 meg photos from Canada to Scotland in less than 30 seconds each. On the downside I have had to stop sending 500kb files because they were going at around 100 bits per second.

The recipient has to be at the computer to accept the transmission at the time of sending.

Thanks owbist. Because the file is so big I may have to use an ftp type of site but I have never used one of those before.
This client is cheap...most clients spring for fed ex without blinking.

You could install a simple file server and set your router to allow it. Then just give him a link and tell him the day and hours your server will be online.

Something like.. HFS

Or if you should both should happen to use MSN Messenger just make a sharing folder and allow his access. Probably Yahoo and other messenging programs have similar sharing.

Thanks Mikie. I downloaded the HFS program. Could you give me the short version of what you said? I'm not exactly sure what a router is. I allowed the program to be set up, however.

Another possibility. You could both open a gmail account. gmail allows files up to 20 MB.

You can send and receive messages up to 20 megabytes (MB) in size, including attachments. Incoming messages over 20 MB will be returned to the sender without being delivered to you.

Router, you may or may not have one ? Some modems on high speed accounts are routers too.

Anyhow if you have one you need to allow the http webserver. Most of them are pretty simple... some just call them rules, or port forwarding, others may say applications or my main router calls them ALG (Application Level Gateway). standard for a http web server is port 80

It will want to know which lan ip and port to send port 80 to. Which is your computer that has the server program running. So something like internet port 80 send to lan port 80 on lan ip 192.168.1.100 or whatever yours is.

I imagine the size will be close to 100 megabytes so I'll have to get learn how to use the program.

One way to go is to use a service that sends large files free. You can get added benefits, such as a return receipt, if you pay a fee.

I recently used sendthisfile.com to send a large PowerPoint file. I first used a test e-mail to one of my screen names; the upload took quite a while to upload, but the the download took less than a minute.

To find a way to send large file, I did a google search with "send large file" as the search phrase. Other places do the same thing, but sendthisfile appeared to be the simplest to use.

If somebody emailed me a 100mb file, my isp would lock my email box. Any other emails sent to me would be returned ans non-deliverable, box locked.

Then I'd have to telnet into it and delete the oversized file, doubtful it would let me do anything else except telnet deletes..

On sendthisfile, an email is sent with a link to where you retrieve the file. The file itself is not emailed.
