Andrea, After speaking with Sony support this afternoon, my dad had a cyber shot and Viao computer (I now have but don't use), they suggested the links I provided to you. At a minimum it should allow access through device manager. As I suggested above you can get a USB card reader, sorry I didn't clarify for older cards as well. I appreciate the way you treat folks that try and help you. It is no wonder others now refuse to help you. I may be wrong but since you won't try what is suggested, as usual, we will never know. I think I like my W8.1 desktop more then my W7 laptop! When I bought my desktop I asked that the upgrade to 8.1 be installed and login screen be eliminated. (I hate having to login when I start my computer!!) The only thing I still have a problem with is finding the controls on the right of the screen to shut down the computer......I really want the Start button back!!!! Besides that there are so many things to like about W8.1 and the convenience of having so many controls at the top of the folders. I have my "Desk Top" with my background choice and what icons I want. I must admit I'm still learning and finding new short cuts all the time. I'm a senior so I guess you can teach an "Old Dog" some new tricks :o)

This MS August update disaster is causing issues with Win 7.1, too. I had to do some pretty fancy footwork to get Win Updates to work after deleting 2982791. I finally succeeded by accessing it through "Restore Hidden Updates"...allowing a hidden update to load. Then, MS in its infinite wisdom...automatically installed the replacement for 2982791. I later uninstalled 2970228 and went through the whole ugly procedure again...only this time I had to remove the hidden update that I'd previously installed. Don't ask! GRRRRRR MS finally installed 2993651 from the restore page and life has been back to normal ever since. I should add that no repair tool worked trying to get Win Updates to work/repair itself. The repair tool ran and reported the Update tool was repaired. It wasn't. And I went round and round with that issue for a while until I just finally worked every trick I could think of with the Restore Hidden Updates temporarily repairing the problem. Currently...peace reigns! It's going to be very interesting to see what September brings. Anne

As well, there are many temp files left from program installations, updates, and so on that are usually not removed automatically. And that is related to the OS, not any browser. CCleaner works well for that. If you're worried about what's going to happen, just use the "Analyze" button and check what's going to be removed before clicking on "Run".
