Hi jean_mi_z5, Reports inconclusive to me. It's showing a lot of system file crashes, but those crashes can be caused by 3ed party files / drives causing the Microsoft drivers to crash and I don't see any 3ed party listed. Most of the checkboxes there are for things that actually don't take up much room, and don't make much difference either way. These take up room and are worth deleting : Temporary Internet files Temp files (especially) Recycle bin (especially) The rest you can think of as historical traces of things you've done. If you're a privacy nut you might want to keep them checked for deletion. Otherwise, it really doesn't make much difference. For example : Run (in Start menu) Clipboard "Run" would be things you've typed into the Run box. If you deleted them, then the next time you use the Run box they won't predicatively autofill. If you're not a power user that won't make any difference to you. Clipboard - kind of the same thing. I have a clipboard add-on that saves the last 20 things I copied & pasted. Deleting that list would clear those 20 things, and i wouldn't be able to paste them again. Memory dumps & Chkdsk file fragments are, for the former, leftovers from crashes that can help diagnose those crashes, and for the latter, just file fragments of corrupted files also probably from some kind of crash. You pretty much never need them. Basically the only things you really should think of clearing out are the Temporary Internet files (the Internet Explorer cache), Recycle bin,, and temp files, all of which take up space. Those are the only things i check for deletion. You can leave Windows Error Reporting and Event files - they might help to diagnose a problem if it should come up. Everything else, it doesn't really matter either way. None of them remove actually programs or anything of the like. Good luck, Kent

" I get these problems at the very worst times." I'm sorry you're having problems. You imply that this has happened to you before. With all due respect, you should critically assess your antivirus/protection software and your internet practices. What you're doing and/or using is the root cause, because such problems should never occur.

Continuous, instantaneous backups is massive overkill. What you're saying is that your saved files are so special, your (personal) memory and your time are both so very limited, and the risk of a PC failure any minute of the day is so imminent, that anything other than immediate backups puts you in jeopardy. To that, I say, nope. Very unlikely to be the case, I don't care who you are or what you do. And doing so can foster an unwarranted paranoia. And you realize that by keeping your one backup copy continuously connected to your PC, you risk losing what's on your PC AND your backup if there's a power surge or a hiccup in the PC's power supply. Not a good practice no matter how you look at it. You needn't use Windows backup, or what came with the drive, if these don't do what you prefer. There are lots of free backup programs that should be more useful to use. Many apps (like Excel or Word) will do save backup copies every few minutes. Isn't that enough? Once a day is overkill for most people, every few days or week should suffice for most, but so be it. For the occasional something special when your backup is between cycles, attach it to an email and save it as a draft. Or put it on a thumb drive and then remove it from the PC. Done.
