Would you put white marble vanity tops in a kids bath?

How difficult easy it to keep clean? It's for a boy's bathroom and the worse thing I can imagine is that he gets some toothpaste on it. I guess he can drop something on it and it could chip.

Or should I do Corian or cultured marble? It seems the corian is just as expensive.

Another vote for quartz. LOVE my new Cambria in the kids bath. It's already seen toothpaste, nail polish & remover, all manner of teenage girl hair & makeup products....cleans up beautifully and easily.

Not a chance!!! It will etch. Look into the quartz products (Silestone, Ceasarstone, Zodiac, etc.). They are indestructible. I have Silestone in my master bath now and I have found a drop of hair dye that has been on there for 3 hours and it wipes off.

You can buy stock size silestone vanity tops at big box home improvement stores for a good bit less than you will pay if you have a vanity custom made.

I have 3 boys and I am planning on putting one of these products into each of their baths for sure. Get a neutral color and it will last for 20 years :)

Absolutely not! I think the kids would destroy it. For our recent kids bath reno, I went with blue pearl granite. I loved the look, it is busy with being overbearing and best of all, it is a beast when it comes to being tough. It stood up to all we could do with it when we left stuff on the sample to see what would happen. It also looks fantastic with chrome fixtures!

I have bottocino marble in my downstairs powder room, but I am very careful with it and lecture my kids on how to be nice to the counter all the time.

One other thing, I went with a simple (and free!) edge for both the powder room and kids bathroom countertops. After the granite guy spent a few minutes with my kids in the show room, he felt we'd be better off with a simple, solid edge instead of something fancier that the kids might chip or break. He did some nice designs in the countertops and backsplashes for each bath to make up for the basic edge.

I put the Hutton double vanity with carrera from RH in our MBA/dressing room, as part of a minor redo to put our house on the market. I too was worried about quality. We've had it a few months, no issues, looks really nice (I also copied RH for the size and placement and selection of tile backsplash, mirror and sconces). I will say that the drawers feel kind of cheap when you open and close. My suspicion is that it wont last as long high end vanities (but then the stuff that lasts forever just makes you feel bad when you ditch it for being out of date!). The RH Hutton is really well priced and looks great.

We put in marble in our main bath (old house - we all use the same bathroom). I love it so much, it is exactly the look I wanted - BUT, if you get marble, you have to know that it WILL etch and be okay with that look. Ours has been in for about a year and it is completely etched around the sink. We have no stains but lots of etching. We also know many people that chose it for their kitchens and have the same thing. Sealer will prevent stains, but etching is inevitable. What sort of things will cause etching? Everything. Toothpaste, mouthwash, shaving cream, etc. Don't think you can avoid it by being careful - you can't. Some here have suggested that you can buff it out with fine steel wool. I haven't had any luck with that but maybe just didn't keep at it long enough. Like I said above, I love the look and wouldn't change it for anything with or without the etching, but if you want it to stay pristine, you should look at something else. A friend just did her kitchen counters in a marble look alike called Caesarstone Misty Carrera. It's a darker gray than our carrara, but nice and pretty much indestructible. HOpe this helps.

Hate to say it, but I'd use a small hex in same carrara marble, which is probably what you have on the floor of the showers?. You can't mix in another veined anything..... and any solid light or dark floor will show hair, and dust. The smaller the tile, the more patterning ....veining and busyness will result.. A better disguise. Grout in a pale gray/ Keep the Swiffer handy. Truth is most baths need an every day wipe up and a serious once a week cleaning. No tile will allow the escape from maintenance.

There is a lot of movement on the walls and I think marble on vanity tops may be too much. I think your original idea of going with something simple and white is much better. Also, quartz is much easier for maintaining and caring for than marble. So, perhaps something like Blizzard quartz from Caesarstone https://homearttile.com/product/2141-blizzard/ . I just got samples of some of the new Corian patterns - Witch Hazel and Sandstone. I love these - saw the Witch Hazel in a display and loved it at first sight. It does remind me of marble and I know it will be expensive. I still need to add up the total cost of everything I want and decide if I'm willing to spend that much.

Between me, my brother, and sisters, there were six of us kids. We had honed Carrara for a vanity top in the main bathroom, installed in 1967. That vanity top was in just as good a condition as the day it was installed when we sold the house in 98. You might end up with minor stains, but even most of those can be taken out with different poultices.
