Design Dilemma Bathrooms Remodeling

MASTER BATH RENO - Marble Love - HELP PICK VANITY!

So our master bath walls have 12x24" marble tiles, from floor to ceiling. The 4th wall has a tub and a giant window, so no tile (see photo). The floor is 12x24" basalt tiles. We want to have a white slab for the vanity top, as well as the face and top of the tub (so when you look at the window, everything on or against that wall is white)... we just figured we would do quartz for durability, but now after having seen a gorgeous white marble at the stone yard I'm wondering if we should do those surfaces in marble instead, or will that be too much marble, visually? Attached are photos of our bathroom in its current state (showing the wall tile) as well as our original inspo photo. Any advice is appreciated!

There is a lot of movement on the walls and I think marble on vanity tops may be too much. I think your original idea of going with something simple and white is much better. Also, quartz is much easier for maintaining and caring for than marble. So, perhaps something like Blizzard quartz from Caesarstone https://homearttile.com/product/2141-blizzard/ . I think your walls have just enough marble -- the look is stunning. But I wouldn't go with marble on your vanity tops, except if you find marble that is very light/white with pale veining, something that wouldn't compete with the walls. Also, I would go with a light or white vanity to contrast the walls and large mirrors to open up space.

If you could find a way to make the waste line work, I like the first layout I did for you. It feels very open & spacious. It gives you lots of linen storage, a larger toilet room & a makeup area. It just seems to layout better with each area of the room having a particular function. The second layout is similar to one I had pulled as an inspiration pic for our bath. I like that there is still a toilet room & the tub is able to be a little longer. Hopefully with the toilet backing up to the other bathroom's toilet the waste line shouldn't be such an issue. If the cost or feasibility of doing the first layout is prohibitive, I would do the second one. I think either one is definitely better than the smaller layout you are currently living with--so either would be an improvement & feel luxurious while adding greater function to the space. I'm a huge fan of "toilet rooms" as you can still use the bathroom space even if your spouse is indisposed at that moment. Additionally, looking down the road at potential resale, I think with a bathroom that big potential buyers would think it odd if the toilet was sitting right there out in the open--it may be a deal-breaker (the same could be said of having just 1 vanity/sink). Just my $0.02. And just to confuse the matter even further... Toilet is not in it's own room, but there is some privacy at least from the door, shower & tub. Not so much from the vanity area, though. I would rank this one my third choice. Hope this helps!

Thanks all! Like most bathroom remodels, we were confined to a certain space. Ideally we would have liked a soaker tub too, but there was no way to fit it in. The hers vanity (nearest the closet door) used to be a shallow 6 ft long closet, of which you could only access about 3 ft of it in the door opening. So that wall was knocked out and the hers vanity was put in. I am very happy with the new footprint. I wish I had a before photo to show the changes!

I like BM Classic Gray. Forgot to add that I'm glad you posted this as I was thinking of posting the same question. We're remodeling our master bath and using a RH weathered oak vanity with a carrara marble top, and I can't decide what paint color to use on the walls. I'm honestly thinking of just using the White Dove trim color on the walls too, so I don't mess it up!

Jan, maybe I am using the term border inaccurately? The way my walls and vanities flow, the "border" I speak of will serve as a backsplash, continue (same wall) to the tub area, freestanding, and hence the wainscot height (with wall tile under it). That area flows to the shower with 45 degree angles (3 windows), where I want to continue the "border" and tiles. The tile does NOT look like it goes with the slab in my above pics, but it does very well, as dos the hex tile. Think your underlying idea is shower and floors should match? Or maybe I AM using the term border correctly, in which case you don't like. :-) If so, trim ideas? TY!

The only way that I would choose marble for your tub deck and vanity would be if you matched the marble tile 100%, and did a wall hung console in it, creating a color block look that was punctuated only by the white of the fixtures. That would be a pretty severe and cool look though, and difficult to pull off without some greenery for life and very good lighting.

Otherwise, stick with either a gray that matches the veining, or a white. But, with added wood touches.

I agree either perfect matched marble or go quartz in plain white the same color as the white in your marble BTW Also that wood cabinets in your pic is all wrong with marble and IMO so are the black faucets

Thank you all. The marble I am considering for the vanity is all white, hardly any veining. The vanity itself is going to be white oak and we were planning to do a light stain. Our plumbing fixtures are polished nickel.
