i am looking a range as well. Bluestar range does not come with electric oven. Do you like gas better than electric?

Currently I like gas better than electric, but I have not ever owned a professional quality electric oven.

Hmmmmm, $13237 for a stove, What is $13237(I know not what it usta be) but for me, it was 2 rooms, Master bed & bath.
New armstrong hardwood floors(bed and bath) $3200
New French Doors(replaced aluminum slider) $5000
Retracting Screens for above doors $ 800
Hunter Douglass (Motorized Blinds for doors) $2000
Sony Bravia 40" LCD TV $ 800
Toto Dual Flush Toilet $ 400
Remove popcorn ceiling and paint both rooms $1200
Total $13400

I do that with my fireplace, or out go outside and fire up the DCS.

You certainly spend a lot of time telling people they are wasting their money. What's the point? If all you need to do is boil water, buy yourself an electric kettle for $20 and enjoy your 40" LCD TV. I can accept that you don't cook so why can't you accept that some people here actually do more than boil water to make dinner. In any case, you're comparing apples to oranges. You might as well say, "geez what you paid for your house, I would have been able to buy 50 Kia's". Possibly true but hardly relevant or even remotely useful. BTW, have fun cooking Thanksgiving dinner in your $400 toilet.

Now, for some constructive comments.. If you're planning to get a 60" range with a grill top, I'm sure you're looking at venting options as well. That beast will require an equally hefty hood so you shouldn't leave that decision until the end.

I am leaning more towards the griddle than the grill. This way I can do pancakes or teppanyaki, etc. If we use a grill it will probably be the outdoor grill.

We will certainly need to get a new hood, but I have not done much research into that yet. Our current stove is up against an exterior wall so we can vent it out that way.

anytime someone "Challenges A Price"? I recall somebody complaining about the price increases on new appilance models---I guess I best see if you Brow errrr make that "finger beat" them!
I added some "Graphics" just to demonstrate how out of touch with reality , some of these prices have become.
Now since the Appliance manufactures have circumvented our former "Fair Trade Laws", by renaming price fixin and I'm sure contributed to Political causes--so new laws are not passed, I guess all of us are just supposed to "Shut up & buy it", never mind that other appliance manufactures are watching those prices been run up a pole , and ppl like You saluting them, with nary a wimper. I'ts not hard to figure out what the other appliance manufactures will do: Raise Prices of course.
We as consumers are the only ones that can, at least make an effort to keep prices reasonale--Well we could till

I will pass on making a comment about the toilet, but use your imagination.
Wife and I love to cook, and except for one goof, that has been corrected, We are thrilled with our kitchen, even after 3 Years.
I did mention , "I do hope, the stove is all the user expects it to be.

If you would really use the griddle often then that's great. In my experience they are hard to clean and can easily be replaced with a add-on cast-iron griddle when the need arises. Never had one at home but used one in a restaurant kitchen and they had to be scraped down with a metal scraper and occasionally with a cleaning stone. That said, with a 60" range, there's so much real estate that you might as well get one. With regard to the hood, you should really look into that more seriously. The costs for that size of hood might surprise you so it should be budgeted in.

I would welcome a discussion of increasing prices of appliances and have participated in many discussions regarding that. Challenging rising prices is very different than denigrating someone's choices. The OP can correct me if I'm wrong but your post was written with a very condescending tone so before you talk about anyone else's "mighty finger" you might contemplate your own. Oh, I never said your post was off topic.. I only said that the comparison to your bed/bathroom is pointless.

I went back and reread my original post several times, as I had tried to avoid making it look like an attack on the OP, rather than an attack on over priced appliances.
So, after carefully doing so, I probably should have left this out "Course You're gonna tell me that" and left it as a question, for anybody, that thinks appliances, like homes and (some cars),should be making an effort to control prices.

As You have said, I have said, sooooo many times, It's your kitchen, do what makes you happy.

I still don't think we should ignor any price that we may feel is (or at least me) not justified when compaired to other options out there.
If you have a better way to show the value of 13 grand and what it still can or can not do, have at it. I think seeing something graphically displayed, instead of just posting a number better demonstates what that stove costs.

Anyway,moelarrycurly, enjoy it, It is certainly your right to build your dream Kitchen.
Amcook is correct about the venting, very important.

I just hope we can help the next person wanting a dream kitchen, to not have to dig so deep into their wallet.

Funny thing not one guest commented on my cheap old Pella French doors, but they sure did like the food and the fun.

Want to come over  we do dinners like this once or twice a week  so guess what, my mega-$$$$$ kitchen gets much more use and gives me and my guests more enjoyment than my French doors ever will, they just kind of sit there. Got to go, a bottle of port is calling my name in the wine  cellar.
