Hello! Thought someone might like to see pics of my Danby marble island countertop, since I think most of the old thread with pics of my kitchen in them are lost forever. Danby Marble "holds up" just fine, but I find it chips much easier than my perimeter countertop, which is Ceasarstone "Raven". It also etches incredibly easily, and not just with the things you'd expect. Egg white even causes a mark. I don't mind/care anymore and just cook on it. We haven't gotten around to having the entire top "honed", which is an easy expense to put off, and meanwhile, the more I cook on it, the more etches all over it gets. Zero stains, which is awesome. I've left everything on it at one time or another, even tomato sauce for a bit. No stains. Love how it looks and have no regrets for installing it. Happy to help w/any questions!

I don't know what to tell you about the missing posts, but did you check the box to receive e-mails when you posted, and do you have e-mail enabled in your profile? If you do that, you'll get the responses in your inbox even if you can't see them here. One thought is to repost with a request for those who replied to answer again. I only see a few posts as well on that thread. Sorry I can't be of more help!

Here are a couple more...one has a peninsula instead of an island (Amy2202 #2) and the other has a flattened island w/the shallow cabinets along the LR wall that you really seem to want (Amy2202 #3). Both move the oven stack to the office wall and have a corner cabinet Message Center across from the office door and next to the garage entrance. They also both eliminate the tiny pantry. #2 puts a dish hutch in that cubby area extended into kitchen area by 24". It also has 42" of pantry cabinets on the refrigerator wall (the other side of the MW). #3, instead, recesses the MW into that cubby along with a counter and base cabinet below the MW. It also has a pantry on the refrigerator wall, but it's now 45" wide. I like #3 best except it doesn't have any nearby landing space for the refrigerator and pantry. BTW...there is plenty of room b/w the office wall cabinets and the Pantry/Refrigerator...42+ inches. One other thing in #3....I took a 21-inch portion of the cabinets on the LR wall and made it a utility cabinet for brooms, mops, sweepers, etc....unless you already have a place for them. Then I put a similar looking cabinet the same width on the DR end to balance it out. Then, perhaps put glass-fronted upper doors in the cabinets b/w them. +++ Amy2202 #2 +++ +++ Amy2202 #3 +++

NOOOOO, I still can't do it! UGH, so frustrating! However, I think I know the problem now, but don't know how to fix this. A lot of my photos are word docs (docx). I know crazy! But, when I see a picture on some website that I like for my house...which is most of my pictures...I just copy & paste on a word doc! It's easy & works for me. Until I want to upload it here! So, I'm dragging the picture on my desktop to iphoto, like a few of you have said to do. But, I get a message saying my picture is an unrecognized format. Which is probably why I can't upload from "Photo" below here, as well. I vaguely remember at one time a few yrs ago, I did convert my word doc pictures into a jpeg format. But, for the life of me, I cannot remember how I did that. Rococogurl, you mention jpeg....would you happen to know how I can convert the word docs to jpeg? Or, am I just out of luck? leela, how fun to go visit Alberene Soapstone. It is gorgeous stone! That picture of that building is beautiful! I'm glad you figured out how to post pictures! I'm keeping my fingers crossed someone will have pity on me & keep helping me!! :)
