'Tis the Season to be Jolly

Seems like many are wearing their hearts of their sleeve lately.

And getting upset over things that seem like nothing to me.

Well, I'm fairly new to posting here, although I have lurked for some time.

So I don't really 'know' any of you, and maybe I don't fully understand how you think, or interpret things.

I do not want to contribute anything that would cause anyone to be hurt, upset, or any thing else not good.

Somewhere along the line I had made the comment that I didn't much care for a lot of professional type pictures in the posts.

This was NOT meant to criticize anyone who posts pictures. And I apologize if anyone took it that way.

I do appreciate the time and work involved in doing it.

I also appreciate time, work, talent and generosity of canarybird's photography and tutorials.

I was simply stating my own humble opinion.

The statement was not made out of jealousy, envy, or anything else along those lines.

I am not very good at expressing myself with words.

So sometimes I come across rather blunt.

I do have a very vivid imagination.

I can read a recipe or a description and easily visualize (except in the case of dcarch, grin) just what it would look like.

I also would rather read a book than watch a movie. For the same reasons. I often prefer my own visual interpretations.

So again, my apologies to anyone whose toes I may have stepped on.

Let's end this full moon craziness, and remember what this forum (and this season) is really supposed to be about.

Stop bringing up the frays and they will die a rather quick death. Mentioning all the ugliness just prolongs it. If you really want things to blow over, then don't start new threads to remind everyone of these things.

Let all these threads R.I.P.

I'm so sorry it has taken so long for the cookies to get to you - it seems I had transposed a digit in your zip code. Unfortunately, I was having computer problems when I was sending the lists out and was unable to "cut & paste" so I was re-typing everyone address. Just ask Annie about address mess-ups - I can't even blame her incorrect address on a number switching error! LOL! I am just a bit dyslexic when it comes to numbers, so even with my checking and double checking, it got by me. Many apologies for the mistake! Needless to say - I have everyones CORRECT address stored now, and without any further tech problems and an earlier mail date - it should be much smoother next year! With over 37 years cleaning carpets professionaly, I have found that the only fiber the stands the test of time well is Nylon. Polyester and all of the other "Smart Fibers" do not wear well at all. It's very uncommon to find a 10 year old non nylon carpet that looks decent after cleaning. It's very common to find a 30 year old Nylon that looks like new after cleaning. .. Nylon is about 25% more expensive but it's well worth it. The major advantage to non nylon is that it's more difficult to permanently affect the color due to bleaches or dyes. Personally I'd pay 200% more to have Nylon.

I think it is great that you have apologized and I can see that you really mean well. Sadly, I have learned that is is almost impossible to apologize or smooth over hurt feelings on a forum since words mean so many different things to so many different people. NOT your fault, just the nature of the beast. Always some who will stir the pot. And yes, what people write often sounds WAY more harsh than they meant, and often gets taken out of context. Just have to refrain and let things die (which I know I am not doing in this case). Can always send a private note of apology if you think you've hurt someone's feelings. At least this has been my experience. I like to read and express myself in words too, very hard to do sometimes on a forum. Usually just quick, "Sorry, didn't mean to hurt feelings" has to suffice since any more wording ads fuel. Most folks here are pretty thick skinned and let things roll off their backs. They're not posting to say this because of the above principles, and I'm taking a bit of a risk myself by posting this. You won't see much of a follow up. Don't worry about it!! Eat drink and be merry.

You have every right to express your opinion about photography. I don't think you were rude at all, you just happened to disagree. Please don't let this instance prevent you from freely expressing your opinions in the future. Just remember that there are always some people here who are plain sour and will take any disagreement as a slight. Just ask hawk307 his experience with expressing his personal P.O.V. here.
