Problem with a new hard drive.

A new Western Digital 500 GB, 100 MB/s, 8 MB Cache hard drive.

Windows XP Home Edition.

I installed a new hard drive in one of my DD's computers.

What I did was.

Plug in the new Hard Drive.

Turned on the power. Got a message "Hard drive not found".

Turn it off. Inserted the blue "Operating System" disc.

Turn power back on. It went through the process of installing Windows XP. Once it had finished I opened "My Computer" then "Properties". I was shocked to see out of the 500 GB's it only had 81.8 MB of free space left.

So I opened "Tools", "Defrag" and "Analyze". I get another shock. Most of the disc was green with "Unmovable Files".

What is the deal with that? Is their a way to get rid of the unmovable files? This is a brand new hard drive and I have never saw one do that before.
