A couple of other things have happened, too. All of a sudden I lost my sound, again, and I get a message saying "Found new Hardware" but it can't find a driver to install. Then my printer stopped printing and I get a message saying "Could not find Post Script Interpreter defined in your settings. Check your settings under Advance options.... applications." Has my computer been fried or is it something I've done and can be fixed? I did a restore system yesterday back two weeks but it's still not right. Again, thanks in advance.

Notepad is a text editor, but I suspect that you won't be able to read those using a text editor. I think Parsons was bought by Intuit and later sold to Broderbund, but I can't find the Journal program on any of the websites, so I don't think you'll have much luck getting any support for it. You can always copy the files from the floppy into a directory on the hard drive in case you later remember the password you used for those files.

I am not too sure that any simple PDF viewer/reader will allow printing of selected pages. You might consider bring the needed pages up individually then taking a screenshot - press 'Print screen' or 'PRN SCRN' next to the F12 button. Then paste it into your photo editing software or Paint if you have nothing better. Then save as an image. Long ago I used PDFCreator and it was great, no idea why I moved away but I have just downloaded it again. It is a versatile program. Here is a link that might be useful: Download PDFCreator from Filehippo

I probably can't, but I'll try anyway. :) Using this page as a cheat-sheet: http://justus.anglican.org/resources/bcp/Acrobat.htm A word document, or any word processor file, is meant to be easily editable. The problem is that it can also display a bit differently depending of what machine you view it on. A PDF(Portable Document Format) on the other hand uses means to assure that the document displays exactly the same from machine to machine, hence it is more "Portable". But that portability comes at a cost, you lose the ability to easily edit the file. Does that make sense or am I being overly simplistic?
