Hi ! Thanks for the additional responses ! @mikie: My "live" address is free, so if that's what you mean by "cheap".... I don't like paying for email. ;-) Also, the files/messages are being saved as .rtf fiiles. But I think I found the real problem (thanks to someone's observation elsewhere): the webmail compose screens are set to compose html emails, true. But rich text (a la Wordpad) is not quite the same. Apparently, I need to compose a message in an HTML editor (like Word or Kompozer) in order for a copy-and-paste maneuver to work with a webmail compose page. Fortunately, I use Seamonkey as my browser, which has a built in composer I learned I can use for the purpose ! :-) So, my situation is basically resolved. @leftwood: Actually, I'm trying to avoid using an offline email client just to avoid some steps. Since I like using webmail interfaces in my various accounts, I like the simplicity of just opening a program for writing a document, rather than opening a whole email program and then going into "compose." But, yes, I had Juno once -- seems like ages ago. I started with it, in fact. I liked it. I had the pay service ("free" was too slow). And I liked the built in email client -- based on Outlook Express. But the pic you show above.... isn't that from an eariler version of Juno long since discontinued ? I thought they eliminated the whole browser-email client combo half a dozen years ago (with version 7.0 or something), even thought they (temporarily ?) supported those using the earlier, fuller software versions (like 5.33). Did they bring it back ?

I just wanted to update my post that my computer is back to norm. The PDF issue was solved using the download Raven suggested and works fine. Still can't open PDFs w/ Adobe Reader, but the other program does the job and evidently my clients can open them via email as well which was the important part. The jumping cursor issue was quite baffling. After doing many days of research, I found that the issue goes back to the early 2000s on all kinds of 'puters. I couldn't type anything without the damn cursor jumping around constantly and inserting text where it didn't belong. BUT, finally, it dawned on my when I did my OS re-install and downloaded the touchpad mouse driver (though I use an external one via the USB), I didn't choose that I had a 32bit system. It had automatically loaded the 64bit driver which was apparently causing the issue. Duh!! It took me 2 weeks to figure it out, but I did. No jumping cursor and no more crashing computer. She's quite speedy now. I appreciate everyone's help.

when you go to the tools options fonts area then to advanced and make your changes did you remember to hit ok at the bottom for it to take effect? did you shut down all instances of firefox then restart it to have the changes go into effect? It works for me I have mine set at 20 and 13, on min. I have None, I do have the box checked for let them choose their own size. That is the front end for settings in your about:config file, to make changes directly to your about:config do this open firefox in the url box type about:config go, you will see your entire about:config settings page. Scroll down till you get to the f's there will be several fonts settings listed, go to the one that is bolded for font.size.fixed.x-western you will see the columns to the right they are on mine user set, integer, 13 that 13 is the set font size, you can change that number, I suggest you write down what it was before so you can change it back should you need to. Just hilight the number and change it. Then you will see another one bolded font.size.variable.x-western, user set, integer, 20 on mine, again you can change that number but write down what it was. Then shut down firefox and restart it for the changes to take effect. Anytime you change any settings you always have to shut down firefox and then restart for it to show the changes so if you were not doing that in your other settings that could be your problem. there is an add on that will save the settings for webpages for you too, go to the extensions page and do a search, I don't remember what it is called but search on text size or font size. I use an extension called text size toolbar wHich I love you can search for it and read about it you might want it too.
