Can I not save PDF files anymore?

Every once in awhile I run onto a PDF document that allows me to print it but I can't find a tab to save it. Do I need another program now, or what? I really don't want to print of 81 pages of colored text.

If you're using Adobe Reader try PDF-XChange Viewer or Foxit Reader. Adobe reader uses more resources and the others have been used and recommended by forum members. Watch that you're getting the free ones.

I am not too sure that any simple PDF viewer/reader will allow printing of selected pages.

You might consider bring the needed pages up individually then taking a screenshot - press 'Print screen' or 'PRN SCRN' next to the F12 button. Then paste it into your photo editing software or Paint if you have nothing better. Then save as an image.

Long ago I used PDFCreator and it was great, no idea why I moved away but I have just downloaded it again. It is a versatile program.

Bob, as of today, I am intimately involved with every worthless feature of my printer. lol I tried that, I click on it, change it to 400% and it reverts right back to 100. So I turned on the poster option and picked the one that looks like it's 4 times bigger than a regular page and nothing happens, it just freezes up and doesn't print at all. Grrrrr! I'm thinking that should really do it, but what do I know? I give up. I'll stop by a Kinko's or something and use one of their copiers and save myself the aggravation of this thing. Chances are I'll never even use it, but dangitall, I wanted to figure it out! Thanks for trying to help me, though, I do appreciate it!

That's what puzzles me, I don't see a pdf file listed. I've copied (see below)what I received from my contact. She says that she sends this email to about 50 addresses and I'm the only one that has a problem with it. There is no pdf icon anywhere in the email. Subject: Come 'N Take It newsletter Date: Jan 28, 2010 4:10 PM Sorry it's a little late, but here it is. The second page pertains to our upcoming anniversary dance and a list of ideas and items we will need for the decorations. Thanks y'all and Yellow Rock! Just double click on to the pdf icon and it will open. If you want to print it, just drag it on to your desktop and print from there. I didn't have an Adobe Book File to run a test on, so all I could do was try this location for a free book download. http://etext.virginia.edu/ebooks/ E-book Library at the Electronic Text Center Wide range of publicly-available e-books from the University of Virginia Library in Microsoft Reader and Palm formats. etext.virginia.edu/ebooks/ - 14k - Cached - Similar pages I choose Civil War - Red Badge of Courage as a test - Chapter 1 only. - I clicked save as and it was quickly delivered to my Desktop. Everything went OK. Adobe 7 is the free version. Do you need the paid Version?

I just wanted to update my post that my computer is back to norm. The PDF issue was solved using the download Raven suggested and works fine. Still can't open PDFs w/ Adobe Reader, but the other program does the job and evidently my clients can open them via email as well which was the important part. The jumping cursor issue was quite baffling. After doing many days of research, I found that the issue goes back to the early 2000s on all kinds of 'puters. I couldn't type anything without the damn cursor jumping around constantly and inserting text where it didn't belong. BUT, finally, it dawned on my when I did my OS re-install and downloaded the touchpad mouse driver (though I use an external one via the USB), I didn't choose that I had a 32bit system. It had automatically loaded the 64bit driver which was apparently causing the issue. Duh!! It took me 2 weeks to figure it out, but I did. No jumping cursor and no more crashing computer. She's quite speedy now. I appreciate everyone's help.

Thanks, no I didn't want to print the file. I wanted to keep it in my documents for reference. I will check out the links. Thanks

Some computers will have a print to file check box in print set up.

Some computers also will allow you to go into printers, and change the default printer to Print to file... and print just the pages you want to a folder.

If you have the pdf open in your browser, perhaps you can do something like: "Save Page As" from your browser's file menu?

With the pdf open in the viewable form go to the top select file then save as name it and save it to the location of your choice.

Why not right click and save it to the desktop from the site before opening? That's how I always do it. Mary
