Converting a pdf file to a jpg file

Some forum has "Frequently Asked Questions" but I couldn't find it on this Kitchen forum.

This question was asked a few times so I thought, I'd just post it.

This is a simple way to convert your pdf file into a jpg (photo) format so you can post it on the forum. You'd need to use Adobe Reader version 7.0.

Open your pdf layout in Adobe Reader. At the top horizontal menu, the 2nd listed is "Edit". Under Edit, select "Copy file to clipboard".

Then, open MS Paint Brush. Under Edit, select "Paste". You should see your drawing now. Do a "Save As" and chose JPG as your file extension (right below it). Now you have your layout in jpg (photo) format for posting.

I found a link for the Kitchen Forum Frequently Asked Question from a posting by Celticmoon. I believe, it is run by Starpooh and Celticmoon. Maybe Starpooh or Celticmoon can post this on that site please? That is if you don't mind and think that it's useful.

Wow! Thanks, Natalie! I do all of my layouts in CorelDraw and often save them as .pdf's to get a WYSIWYG of my image. However, I didn't know how to take that and make it into a picture before.

Well I see these extra programs as just that. There are a few excellent free screen capture programs available but as I use print screen perhaps a dozen times a year so installing yet another program to do basically the same is out. Using print screen and Corel PhotoPaint I can snag, crop and add comments to anything in short order. Thanks for the link though cboy, I had not seen that particular program before.

Unfortunately, you can't just insert a PDF or a JPG into a post -- you have to upload it somewhere else first, and then link to it. If you click on the link below to the ReadMe for this forum, and scroll down to the second or third comment, the instructions walk you through how to upload images to photobucket. Unfortunately you cannot post a pdf image - you have to convert it to an image format first. Try using this free online tool to convert it to JPEG format, then you can upload it to your photobucket album and link to it from Gardenweb. Neevia free online PDF image converter

I lost track of this posting for awhile...

Basnjas, if you use CorelDraw, you should be able to "Export" your drawing straight to JPG format. I do this often.
