I had pregnancy induced HBP..I was on Atenol(sp?) I delivered my first son at 36.4 weeks via C section. I went on the meds at 32 weeks. So if you follow orders..it's likely that you'll make it atleast another week. They will likely keep you on the meds until about 2-4 weeks after delivery. I was also prescribed a diuretic for those last few weeks after birth.
Then with #2 I started on the same drug at 16 weeks..just in case..and with #3 at 9 weeks.

Keep that bun in the oven.....and keep off your feet!!!

Rhiannon came back last night and my folks stopped along the way and picked up easy to fix groceries for the week. Rhiannon has preschool and I didn't want for her to miss school. She is 5 and a good helper plus doesn't need as much of my help as the other 2. I also have someone coming today to help me out and my mil and fil are coming tomorrow to help out. My mom will come up on Wednesday and get Rhiannon and she will stay down there for the weekend.

We haven't decided but may go for the amnio on Friday and if the baby is ready have the c-section early because of the toxemia and my blood pressure. If I can get off bed rest at 37 weeks I will go ahead and wait for the c-section. We went through this decision last year with Hayden and I told myself that if it happened again I would go with the later date, but that was because of contractions on things that could hurt the baby.

I wish I was closer to you, I'd be happy to help out! I'm glad your family is pitching in, the kids will have a blast with their grandparents.

Stacie, I will keep you in my prayers. It is so frightening to suffer from health problems, especially when you are pregnant. Thankfully everyone is helping out with the kids. Stay in bed, and get lots of rest!

Stacie, Are you done with the 24 hour urine catch? I had to do that numerous times in each pregnancy as I am a diabetic and the risk of preeclampsia is greater. One time the lab spilled it and I had to do it again. They claimed the lid was not screwed on tight, funny it did not spill in my car.

With Julian they ended up deciding that I did have preeclampsia and inducing me without checking his lungs. I was 38 weeks but for an infant of a diabetic mother they may still not have mature lungs at 38 weeks. If they do decide it is preeclampsia after deleivery they often give the mother an IV of magnesium for 24 hours, which if they do it means you would need your husband with you if you wanted to have the baby with you. Magnesium knocks you out. The good news if it is preeclampsia the baby weight will melt off, a lot of it is water.

Take care of yourself and the baby. Don't stress. How many weeks are you?

Yep I am done with the urine catch. Luckily I only had to do it for 4 hours after I got home. I lucked out with having to do that.

I am at 36 weeks and 4 days so am very close to the magic 37 weeks. I think we will be doing the amnio on Friday because even with the meds my blood pressure still is somewhat high.

Well we had to go back up for more blood work and another nonstress test. My arms look terrible from all the blood draws this last week. My blood pressure was up and was having sharp abdominal pains so got sent to the hospital. Dr. said that I was on bed rest until the baby comes which could mean another 3 weeks and we are talking total bed rest. I have decided and Dr. agreed that the stress on the baby and me isn't good for either of our health and will do the amnio on Friday to see if the baby's lungs are ready to be delivered. So will go for non stress test and dr's visit on Thursday and do the amnio on Friday and possibly have the c-section on Monday or before. I am scared to death, I am not all that ready for the baby,it was such a surprise to find out that I was pregnant and now I could be a new mommy i just days. I have been having anxiety problems since last week and it is getting worse which agrivates my blood pressure and then I get more anxious and it starts all over again. So think of me and pray for us, if we don't have the baby it will be a long 3 weeks without my 3 lovy kids and stuck in bed.
