Benjamin's home from the hospital.....

Benny got discharged this afternoon, and is feeling WAY better. He's eating and drinking a little, his colour is back and he has energy again.

I should have mentioned in my original post that this is just a bug that he caught from Sophie. She was sick all day Wednesday. He just got a worse dose of it. When he gets sick, he gets SICK. And with the blood sugar issues (whatever they are), they always want to admit him when he's not keeping food in.

In the hospital they gave him an anti-nausea medicine similar to Gravol, saline water stuff to re-hydrate him and sugar water stuff to regulate his blood sugar (all by IV). They did bloodwork and urine tests (had to tape a bag over the poor guy's penis) and stuff. They said that his white cell count was up and that he had high ketones. They checked his blood sugar regularly and the level was always normal. They figured that the blood that he was vomiting was from tears from the forceful vomiting.

I'm so glad he's home and getting well - I sure do appreciate the thoughts and prayers.

He's got an appointment on Tuesday about his blood sugar stuff, so I'll update after that.

So glad that he is home....I just know that being home will do so much for ALL of you. Sure hope they can get his blood sugar figured out.

Is there no family you could move in with for a short while? I don't meant to pry, I just am concerned about your housing predicament. Coupled with your health concerns, you are under quite a lot of stress. You need to heal & recover. True, thank goodness, you dodged a bullet this time, but your little body (& soul) has been through a lot Threedgrad! If family is not an option, could you contact that helpful social worker again? You need to be guided to some long-term resources. You can't keep wondering where your next home is going to be & fully recover at the same time. I know you are a hard worker, and you want to be independent, but there is a season to lean on others, too! Please contact some of the helpers in your community. There has to be some kind of assistance for you in your area. Keep us posted!

so you'll be up at u-dub?? been a very long time since we were there...all i remember were the boat-rowers and the university center and then, only a few coffee places...starbucks hadn't taken over the world yet...i do recall a store that sold nothing but fancy rice...wonder if it's still there... look at it this way your drugs will have "attended" one of the best schools in the world...

I'm so happy to hear that he's home and feeling a lot better.
My middle son was the one we always were rushing off to the hospital when he was little,so I know what stresses it causes the parents.
Thankfully he outgrew it all and is now the huskiest and healtiest of all my grown kids.
Hoping little Ben stays healthy and gets stronger everyday.
