Home from Hospital

In case you don't remember, my DH Vic has MS for years, had a worsening around New Years, had several seizures, went to hospital, in ICU, then sent to Rehab Hospital for 20 days. Yesterday he came home, we're both so happy. He was provided with a wheelchair and a commode for at home, today a nurse is coming to evaluate him for therapy at home. Hope he gets LOTS of therapy.

That's wonderful for both of you! I hope he will be able to get both occupational and physical therapy, and that he will be able to walk again soon.

Is there no family you could move in with for a short while? I don't meant to pry, I just am concerned about your housing predicament. Coupled with your health concerns, you are under quite a lot of stress. You need to heal & recover. True, thank goodness, you dodged a bullet this time, but your little body (& soul) has been through a lot Threedgrad! If family is not an option, could you contact that helpful social worker again? You need to be guided to some long-term resources. You can't keep wondering where your next home is going to be & fully recover at the same time. I know you are a hard worker, and you want to be independent, but there is a season to lean on others, too! Please contact some of the helpers in your community. There has to be some kind of assistance for you in your area. Keep us posted!

I'm glad you're home, MaryAnn, and it's good of you to check in so we don't worry too much. I hope your pneumonia takes a hike and that you feel so much better really soon! The nurse came today (Friday), did a quick physical exam and asked about a million questions. She was very kind, recommended six types of therapy/assistance for Vic. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, social worker, visiting nurse and -best of all- a home aide several times a week/a few hours at a time. And even better, he's classified "homebound" so they will all come to the house to treat him. Now to start scheduling six visitors-my dog is gonna be bananas!

So glad that he qualifies for all that extra help.

We went through something like that with my dad, and as soon as he got back home he improved so much faster -- I hope this will be the same with your hubby.
