You don't need a layering recipe, and you don't even need to layer. Layering helps measure stuff out and make sure stuff is well dispersed, but you could premix and then just lay it out. You don't need manure. You just need greens and browns of whatever sort you can get. You probably don't need to buy anything! Layer up what you have, and mix in some coffee grounds as you scrounge them from StarB's. Hints- you don't need to buy alfalfa meal if you have other greens, but throw it in if it's taking up space. You don't need peat moss- but if you have some that is just taking up space- then it's fine. If you have another use for it- then use it elsewhere- there's nothing it will do in a zagna bed that shredded leaves won't do. Shred leaves before use. Newspapers on the bottom. I would break this up into five 3.5'x6' beds or two 2.5x 20' rows and plant 2 across. Walking in decomposing zagna is a good way to get an ankle injury and you shouldn't walk on beds anyway, so leave a little path. A few last tips- keep layers thin if you layer- otherwise like materials will clump/mat and prevent water and air movement. Water as you build it- some materials will prevent water from sinking in. Save a little shredded leaves for mulch on top. Plant seeds in a thin layer of soil on top, or plant transplants in small soil pockets that just cover the root ball. Have fun- it's really easy, so don't worry about exact recipes etc!

Greg, Thanks for the well wishes. I do feel like I have been thru quite a bit, but I just keep telling myself "There's always someone out there who has it far worse than me." I try to always have that attitude. After both surgeries I realized how much more difficult my life could be if I permanently lost the use of my legs or my back. I'll tell ya what, I have my good days and my bad days but in general I try to keep myself in a positive mood. I see that you also like the plumeria forums on Face Book! It was nice to be able to put a face with a name. I especially like being able to see all your plumeria pictures there. I need to invest in a good camera so I can take the same kind of pictures! Anyhow, when I do find myself having days when I am in a lot of pain, I like to go to Face Book(and also here!) so I can see all the great plumeria pictures. They really do cheer me up a lot. I am so glad to be off of the steroids! I was getting them 3 times a day, everyday I was there! Tomorrow I have to be at my first follow up. I have mixed emotions in regards to this appointment. In one hand, I know that there going to remove all 75 staples, and that right there will make me feel much better. The reason I don't want to go is because the nuerosurgeon's office is 45 minutes away and I have to ride in a car up there and back, not including the wait in his waiting room, and then the exam room! You know it doesn't matter if you have had major back surgery or not, and in all fairness, there could be a dozen other patients waiting to be seen, and there appointment could also be a follow up after there surgery. I've got a bit more info. 1) I looked at the GIS map for the land the hospital bought, and it's actually NOT the acreage directly behind our lot - it's actually another 1/3 - 1/2 mile further south - right off the highway exit. There are a couple other country roads with private property between our lot and the planned hospital lot. 2) Our lot is about 3/4ths of a mile from the main road, so even if a siren went by we most likely wouldn't hear it because our road is heavily tree'd and very private. 3) The posted plan for the hospital is a four-story building. I didn't see a helipad listed in the plans, but that doesn't mean they won't have one. But I'm not worried about it. I would think at most the helicopter would be used 1-2x a week, which is okay by me. 4) I'm now very excited about the hospital being built, if only because I can put in for a transfer when the time comes and try to lower my commute from 45 minutes each way to 5 minutes each way! *lol*
