raven and bob, i really must be out of it.i can't do this,when i think i have the right page i can't get it.it's for grandaughters laptop,windows 7.the malware is what i need first,we're on a 30 day trial now with AVG.

you can get AVG free you do not have to do the pay version it sounds like you downloaded the trial version of the pay instead of the free version.

If for AVG there is still confusion regarding the "Trial", "Commercial" and "Free" editions use the link below. Regardless which AV you chose remember that after installing it be sure to update it to the current definitions.

If it were myself, I would remove the "Trial" version using an AVG Removal Tool and then install the "Free" version. I do not think an overwrite would be sufficient.

NO you do not want any registry tool, I provided the direct link to malwarebytes at cnet simply go to my link and click on the huge download now button. There is NO mention anywhere on that page of any registry tool!

If you are getting redirected to sites offereing things like registry tools you may well have a serious infection on that computer that will not allow you to go to or download the programs you are looking for.

This link right here is directly to the malwarebytes download at cnet and has a huge download now button if you see anything other than that you have a very infected machine.

If you installed that registry tool you need to remove it from your pc, go to control panel and add remove and find it by name in the list and select it to remove it.

If this is what is happening you will need to download these programs from another computer to a disc or a flash drive and then use that to install them on the pc.

raven,i removed the pc tool/but when i hit the download for the malware it sends me to the next page,which is the pc tool. but.....at top of this page something is blocking the download i think.i use xp and this is windows 7(and ya'll remember,i'm challenged)

Try it from here, click the download window on that page. The another window will open in that window click SAVE FILE. Save it to the desktop. Once to the desktop double click it and install it, then up-date it.

That could be, could boot to safe mode with networking and try it there. Anyone of the links we provided.

ok ya'll,i'm pooped!must be that something is blocked or????? i can get a few to download,one even scanned,and then wants me to pay.i guess i'll get the computer guy to do this when he comes to fix my desktop.i'm giving up.thanks for all your help

Your infected with a rouge Anti Virus.

Once started, the rogue itself, like all other rogues, will scan your computer and state that there are numerous infections on it. If you attempt to use the program to remove any of these infections, though, it will state that you need to purchase the program first. In reality, though, the infections that the rogues states are on your computer are all legitimate files that if deleted could cause Windows to not operate correctly. Therefore, please do not trust anything it states are infections. You will need to remove this. The computer guy will probably reformat / return to factory settings.
