New Construction - Environmental Concerns

Hello

The adjoining property has been sold to a builder, and they are planning to build seven large homes, most likely starting spring next year if they can find the money. The lots are between 0.5acre to 1.0 acre. We are trying to figure out what sort of environmental impact this can have on us.

How are foundations built? Are they dug out? if there is rock underneath, are they removed? blasting? Will our house's foundation and the rest of the structure be affected?

How 'dusty' is modern home building? We have two babies, and we don't want to put them in harms way that can lead to asthma or bronchitis, etc. How do construction crews protect themselves?

Thanks.
